Register O'Donnell Sworn In As Assistant Recorder of Land Court

In order to execute a critical part of his official duties as Norfolk County Register of Deeds, William P. O'Donnell was recently sworn in as the county's Assistant Recorder of the Land Court by Chief Justice Gordon Piper of the Massachusetts Land Court.

Register O'Donnell, who was elected to a third full term in office last November, explained the role of Assistant Recorder of the Land Court. "Massachusetts has two classifications of property: recorded land and registered land. The Massachusetts Land Court is responsible for resolving disputes involving land or real property. Once the case is resolved by the Land Court, I, as Register of Deeds, am responsible for overseeing the recording and safe keeping of these registered land documents in Norfolk County. This is why the Register of Deeds is required to be sworn in as an Assistant Recorder of the Land Court."

In the case of Norfolk County, approximately 80% of the property is classified as recorded land and the remaining 20% is considered registered land or "Land Court property." Register O'Donnell noted, "Whether the land in question is recorded or registered land, I take my responsibilities as an Assistant Recorder of the Land Court very seriously. The citizens of Norfolk County can be assured that the county's approximately 8.5 million land documents are being recorded accurately, efficiently and are available online for viewing via our state-of-the-art computer system.

"Finally, I want to thank Chief Justice Piper, the Court's Associate Justices and their staffs for their graciousness and kind remarks extended to me at my swearing-in ceremony. The level of cooperation and mutual respect exhibited between the state and county has been critical to achieving our goals with regard to the recording and safekeeping of registered land documents."

Incontro Closes Suddenly
"Prospective customers pulled at locked door handles at the Incontro Restaurant on Thursday afternoon, unsure why they were shuttered during lunch hours.
The once popular Italian restaurant shut down suddenly on Wednesday, but the reason for its closing is unclear.
Jim Clark, owner of Incontro and partial shareholder of Rock N’ Coal Pizza and Sports Bar in Bellingham and Millis, said that Incontro will not reopen in the original Franklin location, but he hinted that the restaurant isn’t dead yet.
“This was kind of sudden to me and we don’t have any immediate plans at the moment,” he said. “We’ll see how things play out.”

"they were not interested in incurring the expense associated"

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"The age-old problem about the Franklin commuter train’s late night horns has resurfaced after a Facebook post last week.
Allen Murphy recently moved from Norton to Franklin Crossing Road.
“For the first little while we didn’t notice it (the train), but having been there for almost two months now, most nights it’s loud,” Murphy said. “And geographically, we’re not even really that close.”
He said there have been times when conductors sit and idle the train and blow the horn at very early hours of the morning. He said when he goes to bed he has about three hours of silence before the horn starts to blow again, waking him up a few times every night."

“I just think that Franklin is just the best fit for me now”

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"Robert “Brutus” Cantoreggi has decided to stay on as Franklin’s public works director after opting out of an offer to become town administrator in Norfolk.
He was in contract negotiations with Norfolk and set to take the job there next month. But after consulting with his family and hearing how upset some Franklin residents were about his possible departure, he had a change of heart.
“I really think it’s best for my family that I stay in Franklin,” said Cantoreggi, who lives in Millis. “It’s just a job I love, and sometimes that’s how it works. I’m just more comfortable staying here in Franklin.”
Cantoreggi said he would remain Franklin’s DPW director “as long as they want to keep me.”
