**LIBRARY NEWS**

Volunteer Tutors Needed!
We're looking for more tutors for our ESL & Adult Literacy Program. If you're looking to make a difference right in your own community, this is a great opportunity! The only volunteer requirements are a High School diploma, the ability to speak English clearly, and being age 18 and up.  No prior teaching experience needed!  Volunteer tutors and students do not need to be Franklin residents. If interested, please fill out the registration form on the library's ESL page.


Library Hours
The Library's hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Library will be closed Monday November 11th for Veteran's Day. The library will be closing early at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 27th and closed on Thursday November 28th for Thanksgiving Day.

Franklin Public Library VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Volunteers are always needed for the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs… better known as VITA and TCE.
Many volunteer roles are available. You can help as a greeter, an interpreter, and many other roles, but most of all, we need tax preparers. Training for certification is provided! Reserve passes to the area's most popular museums, aquariums, and more! Passes are available to be reserved up to thirty days in advance.

Move Along! Mondays @ 10:30AM (Ages 0-5)
This thirty minute program features music, movement, stories, and oter interactive activities to encourage social skills and promote early literacy!

Dungeons and Dragons Club for Kids & Teens! Mondays, 4:00-6:00PM (Ages 7-17)
Kids are invited to join us for a weekly Dungeons and Dragons Club! The library will supply dice, rule books, and blank character sheets! (Dungeon Masters must be ages 12 and up) Email mgousie@minlib.net for registration and more information.

Cool Cruisers! Tuesdays @ 9:30AM
Babies who have graduated from tummy time and are scooting all over the place are welcome to this playgroup just for them! We recognize that this fun age of exploring is very different from their first few months, so join us for a special playgroup just for this exciting time! No registration required.

Pre-K Pals! Tuesdays & Thursdays @ 10:30AM (Ages 3-5)
This 30-minute program for kids ages 3-5 is a perfect jumpstart for kiddos that are approaching school-age! Stories, music, movement, and engaging activities designed to prepare kids for a school environment! No registration required.

Toe-Tapping Tuesdays! Tuesdays @ 4:00PM (Ages 2-5)
Let's play some music and get those toes tapping! Join us for a 30-minute energetic, interactive, and creative movement based storytime. From tip toeing, twirling and skipping to jumping and tapping, we will have fun learning to move to the music while building coordination and confidence. No registration required.

Story Tots! Wednesdays @ 10:30AM (Ages 18 mos. – 3yrs)
Enjoy thirty minutes of interactive stories, songs, and fun! No registration required.

Bookworm Bounce! Wednesdays @ 4:00PM (Ages 0-5)
Join us for an afternoon story time full of music, movement, stories, and other interactive activities to encourage social skills and promote early literacy! Ideal for ages 0-5. No registration required.

Tummy Time! Thursdays @ 9:30AM
Babies and caregivers: join us each Thursday morning for Tummy Time! Nurture your baby's development with gentle music, movement, and sensory play at the library! Please bring a small blanket or towel for your baby's comfort! No registration required.

Ballet shoes and attire are not required, but please wear comfortable clothes! No registration required.

Artsy Afternoons Thursdays @ 4:00 PM (Ages 5-11)
Registration required per event. To register for an event, please call the library directly at 508-520-4941. Join local instructor Sharon Carloni for this step-by-step craft specifically for kids! All materials will be provided as we study art history through the creation of unique and beautiful artwork!
This month's projects are:

     Nov. 21 "Thunder bird design" of Native American artist Norval Morisseau

Barefoot Ballet! Thursdays @ 5:00PM (Ages 6-8)
Registration Required. To register for an event, please call the library directly at 508-520-4941 (registration is for all 6 dates). Calling all aspiring ballet dancers! Join Miss Bree for this special 6-week introductory Ballet class. Ballet shoes and attire are not required, but please wear comfortable clothes! Dates for this session are: November 7, 14, 21 and December 5, 12, 19.

Happy Feet! Alternating Fridays @ 10:30AM (Ages 0-5)
Let's play some music and dance! Join us for a 30-minute energetic, interactive, and creative movement based storytime. Laughter and giggles are definitely expected! No registration required.

This thirty-minute program features music, movement, stories, and other interactive activities for littles! Parents and caregivers are welcome and encouraged to participate. No registration required.

Weekend Wiggles! Alternating Saturdays @ 10:30AM (Ages 0-5)
A weekend storytime for littles and their grown-ups! Let's play some music and dance! Laughter and giggles are definitely expected during this energetic, interactive and creative movement based class! No registration required.

Miss Bree's Bookopoly! Starting Friday, November 1st
Join the fun for a super awesome interactive game to finish out the year! Roll the dice, move your piece on our giant board, and have fun with a variety of reading and creative challenges, and chances to win prizes galore! Deadline to "buy" prizes is Saturday, January 11.

Baby Sensory! Saturday, November 2nd @ 9:30AM
Join us for a 45-minute baby sensory program! Watch your little one interact and engage with a variety of sensory items! Sensory play is a fantastic way to help babies explore their worlds, stimulate the senses, and create little inquisitive explorers! Babies under 2 are welcome and encouraged! (Got older siblings? They can bring along a stuffed toy or baby and play along!) No registration required.

Copley Cats Acapella Concert Saturday November 2nd @ 3:00PM
Groove to the harmonies of the Copley Cats! Featuring popular tunes from various decades this A Capella group with a 30-year history is coming for a Saturday afternoon to remember!

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a trained therapy dog! Bring your favorite book or pick out one of ours to read. SPOTS ARE LIMITED. Please register for only one time slot per month (siblings should share a time slot)!

Petite Picassos! Monday, November 4th @ 4:00 PM
Registration Required. To register for an event, please call the library directly at 508-520-4941. Join Miss Lily and create your very own step-by-step painting of an adorable panda!! This paint party is a great fit for children ages 6 through 12! All materials will be provided. The same painting will be taught on November 4th and 18th – please sign up for only ONE of these dates!

Eyes on Owls! Tuesday, November 5th @ 1:00PM
Everyone loves owls! Yet, how often do you get to see an owl up close? Join Marcia and Mark Wilson as they share their passion for owls with us! You'll meet six LIVE owls (from small to huge) up close, so be prepared for a hooting good time! No registration required.

Mickey Mouse Birthday Bash! Saturday, November 9th @ 1:00PM
Mickey Mouse is turning 96! Join us for games, crafts, snacks, and more as we celebrate everyone's favorite mouse! No registration required.

Meet Maudie the Chicken! Thursday, November 14th @ 1:00PM
Registration Required. To register for an event, please call the library directly at 508-520-4941. Come meet Maudie the Chicken and author/illustrator/artist Lauren Scheuer! During this fun and unique program, you'll get a close-up look at Maudie's feathers, feet, beak, and comb. You'll learn about her dinosaur relatives, her eggs, her feathers, her flock, her coop, and her special language! Then you'll all learn to draw Maudie!

Illustrator Workshop for Kids! Friday, November 15th @ 1:00PM
Join us for a fun an interactive presentation with award-winning, local illustrator Erica Leigh! Kids will get a behind-the-scenes look at how picture books are illustrated, and have the chance to create their own picture book character! No registration required.

DINOvember Party! Saturday, November 16th @ 10:30AM
Families! Celebrate DINOVEMBER at the library with an epic dinosaur themed party! We'll have games, crafts, and a few surprises! No registration required.

Diwali Celebration! Saturday, November 16th @ 1:00PM
Join us for a special Diwali celebration for the whole family, including diya painting, dancing, kids activities, henna, a photo booth and more! No registration required.

Winter Sing-Along with Dean College Vocal Ensemble Wednesday November 20th @ 4:00 PM
Families! Join us for a musical afternoon! The Dean College Vocal Ensemble will perform a wide variety of musical selections for a fun concert at the Franklin Public Library! The program will feature winter carols you know and love with many more eclectic song choices from throughout history. Come hear the songs and their stories!

Science Chefs: Making Butter Friday November 22nd @3:30 PM
No registration required.
Wiggle and Shake! Dance and Make for SCIENCE! Join us for an active experiment to make your own butter! Participants will learn how butter is made and will get to take home some of their own butter for the dinner table! While we have some jars for butter making, if you can bring a clean, small, screw top jar (example baby food jar) it is appreciated!

Crafternoon! Saturday, November 23rd @ 1:00PM
What are you thankful for this season? Join us for a fun afternoon of crafting for kiddos of all ages! We'll have an assortment of Thanksgiving themed crafts to enjoy (and share)! No registration required.

Little Groove Band! Friday, November 29th @ 1:00PM
Get ready for a groovy, fun, and interactive concert with Little Groove! In this fun and interactive 45-minute concert, children ages 0-5 and their caregivers will move and sing along with a musician from Little Groove. No registration required.

Santa StoryWalk at the Library! Saturday, November 30th @ 10:30AM
Families! Join us at the library for a special indoor version of a beloved tradition! Follow the pages of a cozy winter story, enjoy crafts and activities as you move through our winding line of holiday fun, and make your way up to meet the big guy himself!
