"Back at the Beaver Pond Turf this afternoon, #2 Franklin (14-2-3) hosting #18 Waltham (12-4-3) in the D1 Sweet Sixteen, Panthers shook off some rust in the opening round win and are trying to get back to the quarterfinal for the fifth straight year #hockomockEnd of 1Q: Franklin 0, Waltham 0, Panthers defended for almost the entire first quarter and the visitors had four corners although neither team had a shot on target, unusual to see Franklin pinned in its own half for so long but they couldn’t find an outlet #hockomockHalftime: Franklin 1, Waltham 0, Panthers get a breakthrough on a nice shot from Addi Weiss after a good ball into the circle from Cade Taccini, Franklin still looks out of sorts though and the Hawks nearly tied it on a corner with no time left in the half #hockomockFranklin cashes in on its eighth corner and adds a big insurance goal, freshman Amelia Manning tees up classmate Cade Taccini and she fires it through a crowd and inside the far post, 2-0 #hockomockEnd of 3Q: Franklin 1, Waltham 0, that was a little more like it from the Panthers who were forcing more turnovers and creating more offense, best chance came with minute to go when Ella Marzullo slipped Penelope Brady in 1-on-1 but goalie made big stop #hockomockFinal: Franklin 2, Waltham 0, Panthers weren’t at their best today (credit to Waltham for putting the pressure on them) but they’re headed to a fifth straight quarterfinal, they’ll face #10 Hopkinton on Monday afternoon #hockomock"
