THE BLACK BOX Local Artist Series: The Delta Generators, The DayBreakers! - Aug 10

On Saturday, August 10 at 8 PM The Delta Generators return to THE BLACK BOX with opening act The DayBreakers.

Featuring Brian Templeton on vocals and harmonica, Charlie O’Neal on guitar, Rick O’Neal on bass, and Jeff Armstrong on drums, the Boston-based band blend the fine line between rhythm and blues and Americana in a way that makes them anything but average.

In 2017, the band recorded the audio for their sold out show at The Spire Center in Plymouth, MA, which they then used to release their first live album, “Delta Generators Live At The Spire.” This release followed in the footsteps of their four studio albums, “Devil In The Rhythm” (2008), “Hard River To Row” (2009), “Get On The Horse” (2014), and “Hipshakers and Heartbreakers” (2016).

“Delta Generators Live At The Spire” is the band’s first album with Templeton, who joined the group in 2016. The album features originals written by both Templeton and Delta Generators, as well as a few cover songs, and was recorded by Gary Sjolin and Kevin Marshall, mixed by David Minehan of Woolly Mammoth Studios and mastered by Dana White of Specialized Mastering.

Since forming in 2008, Delta Generators have won several awards including the Boston Blues Society Blues Challenge in 2008 and have placed in the top ten at The International Blues Challenge in 2009 (See more awards below). In the last few years, the band have shared the stage with such acts as Robert Cray, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Three Dog Night, Jimmie Vaughn, and Sonny Landreth, among others.

With Opening Act - The DayBreakers!

About The DayBreakers: Blending folk-rock melodies with blues guitar muscle and rock and roll grit, The DayBreakers have earned their stripes over four years of consistent gigging throughout New England. The band has played many of Boston and Cambridge's most revered rooms, sharing the stage with some of the region's best roots rockers, such as Entrain and The Silks. The band has also performed as an opener at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA for three years running, opening for Three Dog Night, The Beach Boys, and Bret Michaels.

In the News: FHS preparing for Rolling Stones tribute concert; self-serve gas coming to Milford

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"The golden age of rock ‘n’ roll is alive and well at the Franklin High School as the band, orchestra, and chorus rehearse for the upcoming Rolling Stones tribute concert.
Last year, the school hired a Beatles cover band to rock the class out to the new year, but now they’re shifting the rock spectrum to their 60s competitors, The Rolling Stones. On Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Franklin High School, a Rolling Stones cover band will be rocking out for the school’s benefit. A few of their songs will also be accompanied by the Franklin high school, band, chorus, and orchestra.
Last year’s BeatleMania concert raised about $5,000 from the community, and they’re hoping to attract the same attention this year.
Music director at the Franklin High School, Diane Plouffe, said money from the show will be put towards their major trip, which occurs every four years. Plouffe said that BeatleMania was such a big success last year, and they were hoping for a similar outcome through their efforts."

“In 2018, we live in an automatic world,” resident R.J. Sheedy said. “I don’t know why, in an automatic world, we would not accept self-service gas stations in town.”
The town has been the longtime home of full-serve-only gas stations, meaning an attendant pumps your gas."

Teenage classic rock band SOAR to host fundraiser benefiting Best Buddies - July 8

SOAR wanted to make their July 8, 2018 show at the Foxboro Orpheum Theater (Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center) a bit more special, and decided to turn their show into a fundraiser with the goal of benefiting other kids.

From June 8th through July 8th, SOAR is giving back to the community by performing at a number of fundraising events, including two Relay for Life events (fundraisers for American Cancer Society; Attleboro and Medway, MA) and a fundraiser for Gilly’s House (www.gillyshouse.com a residential program for young men struggling to recover from addiction).

While SOAR is honored to provide entertainment for these great fundraisers, SOAR’n for Best Buddies is distinct because this event was conceived and organized by SOAR. The band discussed a number of potential beneficiaries for the fundraiser, but quickly decided on Best Buddies (www.bestbuddies.org) as one of SOAR’s band members has a sibling who benefited from the Best Buddies program while in high school.

This fundraising event gives the band an opportunity to give back to an organization that has helped so many, including a band member’s sister.

About the Event

SOAR’n for Best Buddies will feature special guest host Chachi Loprete, longtime host of Boston’s Breakfast with the Beatles radio program.

This is a concert fundraiser to benefit Best Buddies, featuring live classic rock music as performed by SOAR. The fundraiser is on Sunday July 8th; the music starts at 6:30 PM and the show will run for 2+ hours.

In addition to being a fundraiser, the show is also intended to be a fun event for Best Buddies. To ensure that our Best Buddies guests can all enjoy the show, SOAR will not use any strobe lights and foam earplugs will be available at no cost.

The pre-show meet and greet pizza party with the band (and any special guests) starts at 5 PM. This event includes pizza and drinks (non-alcoholic); pictures with the band (and any special guests) and first-choice seating via early entry into the theater (see ticket information below).

Tickets

• Available from band members for $12
• Available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3490482 or www.orpheum.org (Note: there is a $1.41 service fee per ticket on-line)

Price Chopper or rock pile?

The proposal for a Price Chopper market starts the process all over again as if it had never happened due to a technicality.

The rock pile along RT 140 at the intersection of Chestnut Ridge would be replaced by the supermarket, IF the proposal goes through. It requires a special permit as well as approval for the site plan from the Planning Board.

Stay tuned to the Planning Board for the hearings on this proposal. It will resume discussion on Aug 9th.
