Looking back through the election results voter turnout varies. One could argue that the amount of money spent on advertising in the election drives the voter turnout. One could also argue that the amount of direct control Franklin voters have over the election runs in an inverse proportion to the turnout.

Hence the presidential election campaigns will get about an 80% voter turnout and the state elections will generate about 60%.

When the stakes are purely Franklin and the question is regarding money(i.e. an override) Franklin voters will generally turnout at about 40%. For a local election to select our Town Council, School Committee and other elected officials, the voters turnout at about 20%.

With 20,697 voters registered in Franklin as of Oct 23, 2014, and the election on Nov 4th classified as a State election, approx 12,418 voters would turnout. The 12,418 is calculated at 60% of the registered total (20,697).

So will you be one of the 12,418?

Note: the polls open at 6:00 AM and close promptly at 8:00 PM.
All Franklin precincts vote in the same place - the high school.

a. I recommend acceptance of two checks totaling $7,200.91 for in-house enrichment & field trips at Davis Thayer as detailed. (O’Connor Studios $1,200.91; DT PCC $6,000.00)

b. I recommend acceptance of a check for $5,300.00 from the Hockomock Area YMCA for district-wide supplemental curriculum materials.

c. I recommend acceptance of a check for $399.50 from All American Publishing for Supplies at FHS.

d. I recommend approval of the request for two extended field trips for DECA students as follows:

1. MA DECA state competition to Boston – 3/12/15 – 3/14/15
2. International DECA competition to Orlando, FL – 4/25/15 – 4/28/15.

e. I recommend approval of the request for 4 athletic field trips as follows:

1. Wrestling Team to Salem, NH – 12/20/14
2. Boy’s Ice Hockey Team to Woonsocket, RI – 12/26, 27 & 28/14 (day trips)
3. Wrestling Team to Bennington, VT – 1/10/15
4. Wrestling Team to Johnston, RI – 1/17/15
