Franklin Art Association: Meeting - May 6


The Franklin Art Association will meet Wednesday, May 6th from 6:30 to 9:00 pm for our last meeting until September. 
It will be held at the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill Street. Refreshments and socialization will begin at 6:30.

The May meeting will be an opportunity to create art together, rather than have a guest artist. This fun session will offer a variety of still life arrangements for members and guests to draw, paint or photograph. Please bring all materials needed to work in the medium of your choice. Although still life arrangements will be set up, feel free to bring your own objects.

Meetings are free and opened to the public.

"Fresh off the Palette" art show

"Fresh off the Palette"

Seven artists called "The Bud's" will be exhibiting their paintings the month of May, at the Norfolk Public Library, 139 Main Street, Norfolk, MA 02056

These paintings have been created in the fields, on the shore and in the studios. Watercolors, pastels, and oil paintings will be exhibited.

A gala wine and finger foods reception will be held Saturday, May 9th, 2015 from 3 pm to 5 pm.  It is free and opened to the public.

Artists participating will be Richard Fotland, Gail Eckberg, Susan Sheridan, Paul Peterson, Tina Guarino, Paul Guarino and Adele Corrigan. All are members of many regional art associations.

Giguere named "next principal of Bellingham High School"


Lucas Giguere, a former U.S. Marine sergeant and Franklin teacher, has been named the next principal of Bellingham High School. 
Superintendent Edward Fleury announced the posting Tuesday night after a month-long search. 
“He is a good fit for Bellingham,” Fleury said. 
Giguere, 35, was one of 30 candidates who applied for the job to succeed Principal Peter Marano, who next school year becomes superintendent of schools. The other finalist for the position was Eileen Belastock, the principal of Winthrop High School.

"A Concert for the Senses"


The Center for Adult Education & Community Learning recently held its First Music & Art Appreciation Night at the Franklin High School Auditorium. 
Calling it “A Concert for the Senses,” the event was designed to be an enjoyable family evening. And by all accounts, it was. It featured the talents and sounds of The Center’s music/scholar practitioners, Jamie Barrett, Jill Noddin, Matthew Macaulay, Michael Sansoni, Steven Sergi, Brent Selby and the fledgling Adult Chorus in their first public performance, along with the display of artwork from the Adult Education Art Instructor, Gail Eckberg and her Watercolor students. 
The Adult Chorus, directed by Jill Noddin is beginning its Spring session and is welcoming new members.

Franklin, 9 @ Mansfield, 2 - Final - Zane Byrne tossed five innings, scattering four hits to pick up the win for Franklin. Byrne struck out a pair and allowed two earned runs. Offensively, Alex Bissanti had three hits with an RBI and a run scored while Nick Burgos, Andrew Parent and Ant Chaiton each went 2-4. Parent added a run scored and Chaiton had two RBIs. Tyler Gomes and Ben Chaffee each had two RBIs.

Softball

Mansfield, 1 @ Franklin, 4 - Final - Brie Flaherty was 1-2 at the plate with an RBI while Sabrina LoMonaco was 1-3 with a two-run home run. LoMonaco also pitched a complete game and struck out six. Alicia Donovan and Alyssa DaSilva were solid defensively according to head coach Kate Fallon-Comeau. Moriah Baker, Jess Hindman and Maddie Letendre each had a hit for the Hornets and Letendre struck out five in the circle.
