Franklin Rotary Club President Diane Padula talks about "service before self" and Rotary events (audio)

FM #1121 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 1121 in the series.

This shares my interview and discussion with Franklin Rotary Club President Diane Padula. Our discussion was conducted in the Franklin TV & Radio studio.

Diane calls herself a “Rotary kid” as she grew up with her father as a member for many years.

We talk about the Rotary Club as “service before self”, meeting twice a month at the Rome Restaurant in Franklin. The annual pasta dinner for seniors in June, the Valentine’s Brunch for seniors coming up in February, and other events they host in Franklin. This “small but mighty” group is always looking for new members.

The recording runs about 22 minutes, so let’s listen to my conversation with Diane as we talk about what the Rotary does for Franklin. Audio link -> https://franklin-ma-matters.captivate.fm/episode/fm-1121-franklin-rotary-club-president-diane-padula-12-11-23

Rotary Club of Franklin - Interact Club to meet with Rep. Jeff Roy

Representative Jeffrey Roy has graciously accepted an invitation to meet with the Rotary Club of Franklin Interact Club on April 2, 2021, at 3 PM on the Franklin Town Common.

Rotary Interact Club is for teens 12-18 years of age and come together to complete service projects locally and surrounding towns. A few of our club members are seniors in High School and leaders amongst their peers.  They are civic minded and are grateful for the chance to speak to, and ask questions of, one of our own hometown heroes.

"Rotary Club of Franklin MA hopes that our Interact Club teens will be inspired when they hear about the kinds of things expected of a State Representative and what Rep. Roy is doing for the Towns of Franklin and Medway, and also Massachusetts and how they can be involved." said President Judy Alfred.

FM #400 Franklin (MA) Rotary Club - 11/17/20 (audio)

FM #400 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 400 in the series.

This shares my interview and discussion with Franklin Rotary Club members Dan Genitle and Bill Koplin. Our discussion was conducted via conference bridge to adhere to the ‘social distancing’ requirements of this pandemic period.

Dan Gentile is Co-Treasurer and Foundation Chair for the Franklin chapter of Rotary. Bill has had several titles over his years of service and is now a regular and active member.

We talk about the Franklin Interact Club, the nature of the Rotary itself as a service organization (service above self) and some examples of what they have done over the years. Some of the visible marks they have made are the annual Memorial Day parade, the benches in the Town Common, and the bronze plaques on the light poles along the Common walkways to name just a few

The recording runs about 22 minutes, so let’s listen to my conversation with Dan and Bill and find out more about what the Rotary does for Franklin.
