Dr Thrasher (PhD at Northwestern Univ) created a Twitter thread that is share worthy:

"So today I want to write a thread I've been nervous to write. In January and February, according to CDC data, 42% of ppl who died of COVID were vaccinated.

It's possible that in the near future, a MAJORITY of people dying of COVID may be vaccinated. 2. How can this be?..."

Finance Committee hears budgets for public safety & public works and good news on AAA bond rating achieved (audio)

FM #795 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 795 in the series.

This session of the radio show shares the Finance Committee budget hearing #2 for the FY 2023 Town of Franklin budget held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format: 7 members of the Finance Committee were in the Council Chambers along with some of the public, 1 member was announced as expecting to join via remote along with some members the public via conference bridge, all to adhere to the ‘social distancing’ requirements of this pandemic period.

Chair Bill Dowd opens the Finance Committee, 7 members participating. This is the second of three sessions on the FY 2023 budget
This session covered public safety: police fire, and dispatch as well as public works the DPW divisions and the enterprise accounts for water, sewer, and solid waste
Each department was reviewed, some were straight forward, some had minor increases or adjustments. For example, 2 positions previously cut in last year's budget were restored in this year's budget for the DPW
The big news coming from the night was the announcement that the Town had achieved a AAA bond rating. This is a significant achievement and will help the Town save money on all future borrowing requirements

Franklin's Event Outlook: May 13, 2022 to May 19, 2022

Library book sale weekend is here today and Saturday morning, bag sale Saturday afternoon. The letter carriers collect for the Food Pantry with the Stamp Out Hunger drive on Saturday. The middle school students perform "Annie Jr". And then a full set of events next Thursday with Town officials office hours in the morning, Empty Bowls and Film Fest at FHS in the evening.

FHS softball team tops Brockton on Thursday

Via HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the FHS spring sports action on Thursday:

Softball = Franklin, 13 @ Brockton, 0 – Final (5 inn.)

– Franklin scored in four of the five innings, including five in the second and four in the fifth, and senior Aislinn Lavery tossed a shutout to lead the Panthers to a big win in Brockton. Lavery allowed just two hits without issuing a walk, striking out three in five innings for the win. Offensively, Lavery had a team-high three hits from the leadoff spot, scoring a pair of runs. Reece Allen and Carly Johnson-Pellegri each added two hits and Julia White drove in three runs.
