In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for EuropaArching under the night sky inkywith black expansiveness, we pointto the planets we know, wepin quick wishes on stars. From earth,we read the sky as if it is an unerring bookof the universe, expert and evident.Still, there are mysteries below our sky:the whale song, the songbird singingits call in the bough of a wind-shaken tree.We are creatures of constant awe, curious at beauty, at leaf and blossom,at grief and pleasure, sun and shadow. And it is not darkness that unites us,not the cold distance of space, butthe offering of water, each drop of rain, each rivulet, each pulse, each vein.O second moon, we, too, are madeof water, of vast and beckoning seas. We, too, are made of wonders, of greatand ordinary loves, of small invisible worlds,of a need to call out through the dark.

"Yesterday (09/15/23) was an exciting day as we welcomed 3 new officers to the Franklin Police Department. The 3 officers graduated from the Fitchburg State University Police Program/Police Academy.
This is a 5-year program through FSU. Recruits attend a traditional 4-year university and then another year of classes and the police academy. Upon graduation, recruits graduate with a master's degree in criminal justice and their full-time police academy certificate. The 3 new FPD Officers are Officer Parker Luther, Officer Martin Zimei, and Officer Jonathan Butler. All 3 will begin a full 12-week field training program where they’ll be paired with veteran officers to learn the job.
Welcome to Franklin!"

"If you’re looking for a remote job, you might be interested in companies that support a cause. But scammers know that and use your interest to draw you in. If, for example, you’re an LGBTQ+ person or ally, a job that says you can “help LGBTQ+ people in need from the comfort of your own home” might sound great. But what happens if you take that next step?Based on reports to the FTC, that LGBTQ+ non-profit looking to “hire fast” could be using common interest to build trust with you. If you’re invested in their cause, they hope you’ll be more willing to give personal information before they’ve told you anything about the job. Or you’ll be willing to deposit that check they sent you for “equipment costs” — and send some of the money on to someone else, or back to them. (These are both big signs of a scam.)"

Looking for a remote job for a cause you care about? Here’s how to know if it’s a scam |
On February 29, 1952, Congress designated September 17 as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day. This day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, and recognizes all American citizens. The framers of the Constitution of the United States chose the population to be the basis for sharing political power, not wealth or land. Thus, they included a mandatory count of the population every 10 years (decennial census) in the Constitution. Article I, Section 2 states:
“Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers….”
