Why are there multiple calendars?
There is a Cultural events calendar upon which other community events are layered to create the Community calendar.

Respectfully, the Library and Senior Center calendars are too full of events to include all their events so we tend to focus on the major events. Town and School meetings are also kept separate. Links for all the calendars are shared here:

The Cultural calendar displays only the cultural events

Find the full Community event calendar  https://bit.ly/FranklinCommunityCalendar

If you have an event to add to the calendar, you can use the form to submit it for publication:  https://bit.ly/Submit2Calendar

Signatures being looked for to oppose the Autumn Hill development

The Summer St residents group has a webpage and petition underway.
"We strongly oppose the proposed senior development called Autumn Hill, located at 496-498 Summer Street. This property is zoned for single family residential uses, RR1 and RR2. However, the Town of Franklin can override the zoning due to the Senior Village Overlay District. See 185-48 by-law amendment. This allows the densest development possible
Bruce Hunchard, the chairperson of the zoning board, also the owner of the property, is calling this a senior development. It is actually condominiums, 2-3 bedroom, full basement, and 2 car garage that will sell starting at $850,000. In other words, cluster homes for the wealthy seniors, not seniors in need of affordable housing.
This is a clear conflict of interest for Mr. Hunchard who owns the property and is Chairperson of the zoning board."
Continue to their webpage to find more info and the petition ->

Upcoming Remembrance Ceremonies for Fallen Heroes - August & September

Franklin’s Veterans’ organizations, the Edward L. Grant American Legion Post 75, and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 3402, under the auspices of the Town’s Veterans Council, have developed a program to further honor those who died for our nation, to ensure they are remembered, and their stories are kept alive.

The brief program will include
  • the placing of a Memorial Wreath for the day
  • the playing of Taps
  • a salute from those present
  • a reading of whatever history  may be available for that veteran
This is a way of keeping the memory of that veteran alive.

The program is conducted on the Town Common along the Veterans Walkway by the granite column of the individual being remembered.

The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds Commemorates Women’s Equality Day

During the month of August The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds will feature notable women of Norfolk County on its various media platforms to promote and commemorate August 26th.

Women's Equality Day has been observed on August 26th every year since 1971. The event is held on the anniversary of the 19th Amendment's ratification, which gave women the right to vote. However, it would take another 42 years before voting restrictions and interference were banned nationwide.

Women’s Equality Day
Women’s Equality Day
Each day in August the Registry will highlight the achievements of at least one historic or influential woman with the goal to have featured a notable individual from each community in Norfolk County.

The women selected to be featured come from research done by Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell and his staff for the Registry’s Notable Land Records project, which is currently in its third volume. Each of these booklets highlights the stories of numerous women of note from Norfolk County.

Some of the women featured are journalists, actresses, pioneers, astronauts and soldiers, truly demonstrating that all throughout Norfolk County women have played a significant part in shaping this county and the country into what it is today.

If you would like to stay up-to-date on upcoming Registry of Deeds events, programs, and real estate information, you can sign up for our Registry email updates at www.norfolkdeeds.org, like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/norfolkdeeds, or follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/norfolkdeeds.

The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds, located at 649 High St., Dedham, is the principal office for real property in Norfolk County. The Registry is a resource for homeowners, title examiners, mortgage lenders, municipalities, and others with a need for secure, accurate, and accessible land record information. All land record research information can be found on the Registry’s website, www.norfolkdeeds.org. Residents in need of assistance can contact the Registry of Deeds Customer Service Center at (781) 461-6101 or email us at registerodonnell@norfolkdeeds.org.
