CINEMA 80: Silent Saturday - "The Big Parade"
After a well-received experimental run from January to May at the Franklin Historical Museum, Cinema 80, captained by videographer and cinephile Chris Leverone, is back for another season of amazing free `Silent Saturday’ silent film entertainment on Saturdays at 6pm. The program is free but donations are encouraged.

The lineup for October includes:
- The Big Parade – With a showing timed for proximity to Veteran’s Day, The Big Parade a 1925 American drama has been praised as one of the best and most realistic films about World War I.
The Franklin Historical Museum is located at 80 West Central Street, Franklin. The museum is open Saturday mornings from 10AM-1PM and Sunday afternoons from 1:00PM-4:00PM.

MBTA Franklin/Foxboro Line: the new Fall/Winter Scheduled effective November 18, 2024
The new Fall/Winter Commuter Rail schedules go into effect on Monday, November 18th with seasonal and on-time performance adjustments. Schedules will be available online and in stations soon. Visit MBTA.com for more information.
- The ski train will be back on the Fitchburg Line. Wachusett Mountain ski area operates a shuttle between the ski area and Wachusett station during Winter months to connect to these trains which feature a specifically modified coach equipped with racks for ski and snowboard equipment. Update to when the Ski Trains will be in effect will come out soon.- Holiday service: On Thursday, November 28th, 2024 (Thanksgiving Day), Wednesday, December 25th, 2024 (Christmas Day), Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 (New Year's Day), and Monday, February 17th, 2025 (President's Day) all lines will operate on a weekend schedule. On Monday, January 20th, 2025 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), and Monday, April 21st, 2025 (Patriot's Day), all lines will operate on a regular weekday schedule.Affected lines: Newburyport/Rockport Line Lowell Line Fitchburg Line Framingham/Worcester Line Needham Line Franklin/Foxboro Line Fairmount Line Providence/Stoughton Line Middleborough/Lakeville Line Kingston Line Greenbush Line

Boston Globe: "Drought reaches ‘critical’ level in Massachusetts"
"The latest drought reports released Thursday show the severe drought in Massachusetts has reached a “critical” phase and is worsening, expanding beyond Greater Boston to now include central and western portions of the state, due to a lack of any significant rainfall. Rhode Island, Maine and Connecticut are also experiencing increased drought conditions.“Severe drought” conditions now exist in eight counties or about 32 percent of the state, up from 14 percent just last week, according to the US Drought Monitor.“Most stream flow rates across interior Southern New England are below normal or at their all-time lowest,” said Matthew Belk, lead meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Norton."

The map uses 5 classifications: Abnormally Dry (D0), showing areas that may be going into or are coming out of drought, and four levels of drought (D1–D4).
