How to help protect foster youth from identity theft

Consumer Alerts from the Federal Trade Commission

By BCP Staff

Identity theft can happen to anyone, including kids in foster care. But minors typically don't have credit reports, so they might not even realize they've experienced identity theft until they apply for a job, housing, or credit. Because foster youth often move more often and more people have access to their info, they're at greater risk of identity theft. So if you're a foster parent, a service provider, or know someone in foster care, read on for ways to help protect foster youth from identity theft.

Children’s Museum of Franklin Announces Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of First Permanent Location

Children's Museum of Franklin is thrilled to announce the ribbon cutting of its first permanent location at 157 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA, on September 17, 2025.

The event will celebrate the culmination of two years of vision, collaboration, and community support, officially opening the doors of a museum designed to empower children and families to discover, imagine, and grow together through play and exploration.

Founded in 2023 by local moms Erin Gallagher and Meg Hagen, Children's Museum of Franklin began with a simple, but powerful dream: to create a community-centered space where children from across the region could learn, connect, and thrive through play. With the expertise of a dedicated community of advisors and the generosity of countless individuals and organizations, that dream is now a reality.

"Our goal has always been to create a place where every child feels welcome, every family finds joy and where everybody feels included," said co-founder Erin Gallagher.

The museum is intentionally built to be inclusive and accessible, welcoming families of all backgrounds, financial circumstances, and abilities.

The journey to opening day was powered by the support of donors, community members and Mobile Museum visitors from across the region, the design vision of KuthRanieri Architects, and especially the extraordinary partnership with Camford Property Group, whose commitment helped bring this dream to life.

"We're endlessly grateful to every individual and organization who has contributed their time, talents, and resources," added co-founder Meg Hagen. "This museum is built for the community, by the community."

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on September 17, 2025 from 4:00 –5:00 PM at the new museum location. Families, partners, and supporters are invited to join in the celebration. The doors will open to the public full-time beginning September 18 at 9:00 AM.

For more information, visit www.childrensmuseumfranklin.org or follow the museum on social media @childrensmuseumfranklin.

Join The Wonderful World of Wine (WWW) hosts Kim and Mark for a conversation with Maryse Chevriere. A certified sommelier, acclaimed illustrator, author, and James Beard award winner,
Wine Illustration Talk With Maryse Chevriere
Wine Illustration Talk With Maryse Chevriere

Maryse shares the fascinating, and "very very reluctant," story of her journey into the world of wine.

Listeners will get an inside look at how the wine scenes differ between New York, San Francisco, and Boston.

The discussion delves into her unique illustrations, which earned her the 2016 James Beard Award for Humor. Dubbing herself the "drunk doodler," Maryse explains how she finds inspiration to create her whimsical and insightful wine tasting note illustrations, which have been featured in publications like Food & Wine and Bon Appetit.

The episode also uncorks her book, Grasping the Grape, covering practical topics like wine shopping, the aging potential of rosé, and deciphering wine labels. Maryse provides her expert tips on finding the perfect bottle and offers information on wine importers.

Get ready for a sneak peek as she teases details about her upcoming new book. Finally, the show concludes with a thought-provoking comparison of her hand-drawn tasting note illustrations to those generated by artificial intelligence.

Find Maryse and her work on her website, www.fcghstudio.com, and on Instagram @freshcutgardenhose.

Cheers!

"For 36 years, the Jimmy Fund Walk has been a cornerstone of support for lifesaving cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber," said Caitlin Fink, vice president of The Jimmy Fund.

"Every participant contributes directly to advancing lifesaving research and critically important cancer care. Walk Day is more than just an event—it's a celebration of hope and the shared commitment of the Jimmy Fund community."

One Walk, Four Distances, For All Cancers

Walkers who prefer to participate virtually can complete their chosen distance from any location.

Whatever route participants choose, they will be supported by hundreds of volunteers and treated to refueling stations with refreshments throughout the course. Walkers will be motivated by poster-sized photographs of Walk Heroes that appear along the course as inspiration. All routes will conclude at the Jimmy Fund Walk Finish Line Powered by Schneider Electric at Boston Common, by the corner of Charles and Beacon Street. Finish line activities will include a celebration with food, entertainment, and more.
