The United Regional Chamber President/CEO Jack Lank Named President of NEACCE

The New England Chamber of Commerce Executive's (NEACCE) Conference brought chamber professionals from across New England to Mohegan Sun for two days of professional development, networking, idea sharing, and collaboration.
United Regional Chamber of Commerce (URCC) President/CEO Jack Lank

At the conference, United Regional Chamber of Commerce (URCC) President/CEO Jack Lank was named president of NEACCE with his term starting that day.

Lank said, “I believe this association plays an incredibly important role, not only in supporting chamber professionals, but in strengthening the business communities we represent throughout New England. Chamber executives understand that our work is about more than running organizations. It is about building relationships, creating opportunities, advocating for businesses, developing future leaders, and helping our communities thrive.” He concluded by saying he wants to focus on three things: connection; engagement and value; and growth and the future.

At the conference, congratulations were expressed to Tony Sheridan, who was named the NEACCE 2026 Chamber Executive of the Year. Also, outgoing NEACCE President Nancy Dudchik of the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce was cited for her leadership.

NEACCE is a 501(c)(6) regional association of chamber executives from seven New England states, dedicated to fostering excellence in chamber leadership, community development, and business success. The association has approximately 100 member organizations representing more than 250 chamber executive members.

The URCC is a private, not-for-profit association that represents and connects hundreds of businesses of all sizes from virtually all industries in the 16 communities they serve. Charted in 1917, the URCC is the region’s oldest and largest economic development and business advocacy organization. The URCC supports and promotes the local business community by working with government officials on issues that directly impact member businesses.

School Cmte Policy Subcmte approves policy chnages to bring to School Committee (audio)

FM #1850 - This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 1850 in the series.

This session shares the Franklin (MA) School Committee Policy Subcmte meeting held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. All 3 members (Dave Callaghan (Chair), Al Charles, Reis Hansen) participated in the session held in the 3rd floor training room.Dr Tina Rogers, Paula Marano, and Elizabeth Morrison also participated.

School Cmte Policy Subcmte approves policy chnages to bring to School Committee (audio)

Quick recap:

  • Discussion on the audit done to confirm what other policies need to be adjusted based upon the recent Freedom to Read Act changes. Using the MASC policies as a guideline, reviewed the proposed changes, approved the 3 to bring to the full Committee for first reading. Internal work on the underlying procedures is still underway ideally to be completed by the time the policies are approved

  • Next up, Patricia Middelman, Treasurer of SEPAC (Special Education Parents Advisory Council) is present to talk about ensuring coverage for special education needs in any policy discussions. The group is coming back to life and will be attempting to have representation at Policy and School Committee meetings going forward.

    • (Editor’s note: this is not just any old group. Per Mass General Law, districts that receive funding for special education are required to have such a group. It had been very active then the past couple of years it went quiet as leadership/membership changed (parents of special ed students aged out of the program).

  • Next up, continuation of the fiscal policy discussion. Complete set would be sent to the Budget Subcommittee for their review and comment, then back to this committee for any final edits before bringing to the full committee likely in December

  • Motion to adjourn, passes 3-0, folks move to Chambers for full School Committee meeting

The recording runs about 50 minutes, so let’s listen in.
