SEXT ED: A forum on teen sexting and changing the law - Oct 16

Please join us to discuss teen sexting- the harm, the recovery, and changing the law.

Our event will include a panel with 

• Representative Jeffrey Roy from Franklin
• Franklin Police Officer Jason Reilly
• Dr. Elizabeth Englender, Director of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center at Bridgewater State University
• Kristin Letendre, Director of Health and Physical Education at Franklin Public Schools
• Christopher Spillane, Franklin Police Department School Safety Officer

Representative Roy recently introduced Bill H.948 that would change the criminal process of charging teens as felony sex offenders. Instead, teens would undergo an educational diversion program. When prosecution is considered necessary, the offense will be considered a misdemeanor instead of a felony.

We will discuss the current situation in Franklin and other MetroWest towns, how parents can help their children, and the legal implications if a child is sexting.

FHS field hockey tops Canton 3-2

From Hockomock Sports and Twitter we share the results of the Franklin High School field hockey game vs. Canton from Thursday, Oct 5.


Field Hockey = Canton, 2 @ Franklin, 3 – Final 
– Franklin scored a pair of goals inside the first five minutes of the second half, breaking open a tie game to earn the win. Freshman Amanda Lewandowski scored her first career goal, which turned out to be the game-winner, just minutes after senior Maddy Hinckley put the Panthers up 2-1 early in the second half. Junior Annie Walsh scored Franklin’s first goal on an assist from Regan Paterson. FHS head coach Lisa Cropper said junior Anna Jardine (12 saves) was stellar in net and also praised the play of sophomore Courtney Davenport, who made her varsity debut.

Berry Insurance is participating in their 11th Annual Halloween Costume Drive. All donations are to benefit patients at Boston Children’s Hospital and their annual Halloween parade. 

Last year they had a great turn out of donations from the local community, and are hoping to make this year bigger and better than the last!

Community Garden: Wood Cutting Work Day - Saturday Oct. 7

Hello Gardeners,

SATURDAY, OCT. 7th 9:00 - 11:00 - WOOD CUTTING, PREP WORK

This Saturday, October 7th, we will be cutting and stacking wood for build day on the 15th. Gardens will be cleared as well. There will be a generator and chop saw on site. This is the last actual workday of the season so if you can lend a hand in this prep work please join us from 9-11 this Saturday. Rich Clauser will be on-site to direct work. Please email bonnie.kaiden@gmail.com if you can work this day.

ADDITIONAL GARDENERS NEEDED FOR BUILD DAY, SUNDAY, OCT. 15th

We need more gardeners to participate in Build Day, Sunday, October 15th from 9 to finish. If you have teens you want to bring along, who would benefit from Community Service, please bring them along! Again, please reply to bonnie.kaiden@gmail.com.

Please remember to bring battery power tools. A generator will be on-site for re-charging tools.

Remember to wear work clothes and work shoes, boots or similar footwear.

In the News: Taste of the Region; medicinal marijuana deliveries

"The “Taste of the Region” will take place from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 24 at Tri-County Regional Vocational High School, 147 Pond St. 

Last year’s event drew a record crowd of well over 500 attendees. Guests are primarily employees of the many companies and residents around the 16-town region. 

Load-in and set-up will be between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. on the day of the event. 

Participants will be expected to provide approximately 300 hot or cold samplings of dishes that best reflect their restaurant or hotel; Sternos to keep food warmed as there will be limited electricity to the individual tables; and one or two people to assist with serving food and answering questions from guests."

"THE ISSUE: Five medical marijuana dispensaries are now authorized to conduct home deliveries statewide. 

THE IMPACT: Patient advocates say people with debilitating conditions who live far from a dispensary have been calling for delivery services. 

Often facing long drives to the nearest medical marijuana dispensary, some patients with debilitating conditions are opting for home delivery. 

“It’s something that patients say they really want,” said Nichole Snow, a Salem resident and president of the Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance. “Many patients are homebound, really ill or don’t have a caregiver. A long trip is not practical because they’re in too much pain and don’t want to expose themselves to more illness.”
