FHS boys soccer reach 500th win for Coach Bositis; FHS girls soccer post win on Weds as well

Boys Soccer = Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 1 – Final

"There was no precise measure of the amount of possession that Franklin enjoyed on Wednesday night at Macktaz Field, but it would be safe to say that when King Philip midfielder Matt Crago came forward and blasted an equalizing goal into the top corner it was against the run of play.

With the Panthers looking for a 10th win of the season and to earn head coach Fran Bositis the 500th win of his Hall of Fame career, Franklin wasted no time in responding. Less than a minute had gone off the clock when the Panthers played an in-swinging corner to the back post. Terry O’Neill, a four-year starter whose father Mike is the KP coach, rose highest and nodded a shot off the post and into the net.

Franklin would add two more goals in the final few minutes of play to come away with the 4-1 victory and help their coach reach the 500-win plateau at the second attempt.

“It’s just another win, honestly,” Bositis replied when asked about what the milestone meant to him. “From my perspective, it’s all about those kids there and everybody who came here and played before them and the coaches that we’ve had in the system to develop the players to move up to the varsity level.”

Girls Soccer = King Philip, 0 @ Franklin, 2 – Final
– The Panthers got goals from Kelly O’Connor and Anya Zub to close the season with another solid league win. Franklin, which had already clinched the outright Kelley-Rex title, held off the Warriors thanks to an 11-save night from goalie Rachel Welch. Panthers coach Jodi Klein said Welch “is an unsung hero and an incredibly talented goalkeeper.” Stella Regan and Selene Hammad assisted on Franklin’s goals.

Voices of Franklin: Raymond Milici advocates Support for Franklin United

In cities and towns across the nation there is a concerted effort by right-wing ideologues to infiltrate local governments, and if you think Franklin Massachusetts is exempt from that effort think again. Whether this is a state or national organized effort, I just couldn't say, your guess is as good as mine. But one thing is for sure, it's happening now in Franklin.

This is dangerous for our town. Just look what the former president has done. The division and hate that exist today is primarily caused by right-wing ideologues with policies and principles that have no place in Franklin Government. That's why it's important to elect local leaders that share the values of our community.

Do your homework before you vote, and make an informed decision. I have decided to support the Franklin United group of candidates. This is a moderate group of candidates with experience and common sense ideas. They are down to earth citizens concerned about the the future of Franklin. A low voter turn out could mean we end up electing right-wing ideologues. Be very concerned and vote on or before Nov 2. Check out all the candidates at franklinmaunited.com/home.

All men are welcome! St. Mary's Men's Faith Formation monthly meeting will be held November 20, 8:45-9:45 AM via Zoom.

If you enjoyed last month's Rich Young Man episode, you will certainly enjoy this month's. It will be an episode from Bishop Barron's series on Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues. This episode is entitled Pride and Humility.

As always, Bishop Barron's insights prove to be very faith-filled and practical. All our meetings are currently via Zoom and occur on the third Saturday of each month from 8:45-9:45.

Part 2, Chapter 10 (October 28, 2021)

Dear friends,

I hope your power is back and that you didn't blow away during the storm! October has been a busy month on Beacon Hill; my updates in this month's briefing include the new Senate redistricting map, COVID-19 school policies and booster shot availability, legislative updates, and a recap and preview of some district events.

It is with a great mix of emotions that I share that our district will change substantially in 2023. Under the Senate's redistricting map, engrossed earlier today, Wayland, Wellesley, Natick, North Attleboro, and Attleboro will all be departing our district, while Dover, Medfield, Bellingham, and Milford will be joining us, and Needham and Franklin will be unified.

I am overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of responses to this news I've already received – sadness from those who I will no longer represent, joy from those in communities that will be unified in our district, and thrill from those in communities coming into the district. It has been, and remains, the highest honor of my career to represent the 12 municipalities of the Norfolk, Bristol, and Middlesex District. If I am fortunate enough to be re-elected, it will be my deep honor to represent the 11 towns in the newly drawn Norfolk, Worcester, and Middlesex District.

Though I am sad to lose so many wonderful constituents and communities, I know this is not the end of our time together, because we have built a coalition. We are partners in this great work to advance our shared values through legislation and policy. And that partnership is not over because district lines moved around. We're in this push for progress together, and now we have an opportunity to grow our team and welcome more people into the fold. I look forward to getting to know the residents of Dover, Medfield, Bellingham, and Milford; if you have friends or family in those communities, please invite them to check out my website and say hello!
