Baseball = Oliver Ames, 2 @ Franklin, 1 – Final
Junior AJ Baroncelli, senior Andrew Whiteside, and junior Jack Devonshire combined to limit Franklin to just one run on two hits and five walks to lead Oliver Ames to a win over the Panthers in the season opener for the second straight year. Baroncelli had a no-hitter through five innings and Oliver Ames came through with its lone damage on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth. Senior Drew Hall ripped a two-out, two-run double to left to score junior Ryan Johnson (HBP) and Thomas Whiteside (walk) to put the Tigers ahead 2-0. Baroncelli retired the first two batters of the sixth but Ryan Connelly was hit by a pitch and junior Jack Sullivan came through with the Panthers’ first hit, an RBI double to center to cut the deficit in half. Andrew Whiteside came in relief and induced a grounder to strand the tying run at third. Freshman Patrick Luizzi led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and courtesy runner James Bruso got to second off a sacrifice from sophomore Roman Caccavelli but Devonshire got a fly ball to center and grabbed a popup himself to get the save and close out the win. Junior DJ Silverstein pitched well for the Panthers, allowing one run on two hits and three walks, striking out four in 5.1 innings. Franklin sophomore Owen Lewis tossed a scoreless seventh inning with three strikeouts.

Softball = Franklin, 10 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final
Oliver Ames plated a run in the bottom half of the third inning to make it a one-run game but Franklin answered with four runs in the top of the fourth and scored in each of the next three innings to secure a win on the road over the Tigers. The Panthers built a 2-0 lead with a run in the first (Sarah Boozang RBI single) and a run in the third (Ciara O’Brien RBI double) but the Tigers got back into the game when sophomore Katie Berg led off the bottom half with a single, stole second, and came all the way home on an RBI single from senior Devon Morris. Junior Sophia Sacramone smacked a two-run triple in the top of the fourth and Boozang (3-for-3, three RBI, two runs) followed by sending the first pitch of the next at-bat over the left field fence to increase Franklin’s lead to 6-1. Addi Weiss added an RBI double in the sixth and O’Brien drove in one more in the seventh. Sacramone earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on three hits and one walk, striking out four in four innings. O’Brien tossed three shutout innings in relief, striking out six.
