On March 2 we celebrated Dr. Seuss’s Birthday with a Green Eggs and Ham meal at the Franklin Elementary Schools. We also did a lucky tray and gave out Dr. Seuss books as prizes. Our staff joined in the fun and dressed up like Cat in the Hat!

School Committee gets insights the recipes and kitchens on food services (video)

The Franklin School Committee met as scheduled on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. All 7 members were present in Council Chambers.

  • Recognition for Chloe Bowser, FHS sophomore, selected as one of 12 essays for the commissioning for the USS Massachusetts March 28, plaque on the sub, for Chloe and Franklin
  • Presentation on Food Services, self sufficient with fee based services, able to utilize almost $1M over 3 years for capital upgrades of ovens, refrigerators, etc. to support the food preparation and delivery operations
  • Consent agenda approved
  • March 18 Town Council meeting includes a presentation from DESE on Chapter 70 funding, School Committee also scheduled for a public meeting to enable participation that night

"Yesterday (2/25/26), We served a flavor-packed lunch at Franklin Public Schools!

Our culturally-inspired meal consisting of steamed tamales with fluffy yellow rice and caramelized sweet plantains was a big hit at our Middle and High Schools."

Our District Chef used Local Grass Fed Ground Beef from Weatherlow Farms, In Westport, MA, to make our scratch made Beef Bolognese for lunch today!


We used fresh ingredients like pancetta, onions, celery and carrots.

We served it with all the fixings. The kids went crazy over it!"

On Thursday October 23rd we served Chicken Tikka Masala with our new fresh chicken thighs made from scratch by our District Chef Steve Foote.

The meal was served with chickpeas, jasmine rice, roasted spiced cauliflower, and naan bread.

"Franklin Food Services is buying local MA grown corn for the entire district (around 1400 pieces) and will be served on Thursday across the district.

Food Services is looking for volunteers to have a "shucking party" at FHS on Tuesday, September 16th, at 2:30 PM.

Coffee and cookies will be provided for volunteers. Please see the attached flier for more information."


Note: Because there's no RSVP on the flier, you can just probably just show up. You can also email Aaron Lenart from Food Services at lenarta@franklinps.net

We used the top round cut to make our scratch made - 17 hour - Beef and Broccoli for lunch today!

School Committee recognizes FHS Cheerleaders, hears of food services, Lifelong Learning, and snow preparations (audio)

FM #1114 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 1114 in the series. 


The Franklin (MA) School Committee met on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 as scheduled.  All seven newly elected members participated in Council Chambers.


Quick recap:

  • Cheerleaders recognized as State Champions (again). Proposal in the process of coming to authorize a trip to the National Championships (details TBD)

  • Colin Boisvert, Food Services Director, provided an update on the operation and delivery of the school lunch program and gradual expansion of breakfast. Also highlighted was the use of local food sources and providing healthy options including fish

  • Patricia Gay, Lifelong Learning Director, provided an update on the programs offered through the year. School Choice (before & after school programs), Community Learning (a variety of workshops, classes and exercise programs), Music Academy (year round music education and tutoring), and the Summer programs (including High School Experience). Lifelong Learning is self funded via registrations fees for the programs

  • Brutus Cantoreggi, DPW Director, provided and update on the annual snow program and engaged in a extensive Q&A with the Committee to cover as many of the nuances as possible

School Committee recognizes FHS Cheerleaders, hears of food services, Lifelong Learning, and snow preparations (video)

The Franklin School Committee met for the last time in this calendar year on Tuesday, Dec 12. The meeting featured a variety of information updates and recognition of the FHS Cheerleaders who repeated as State Champions.

Tri-County Culinary Program provided catering for the recent SAFE Jack Frost Jubilee

Flanking members of the Tri-County RVTHS Culinary Program are Culinary Instructor and TC alum Mrs. Brittney Colon and SAFE's COO Ms. Carrie Asprinio during the pickup of the order prior to SAFE's Jack Frost Jubilee, held late last week.

Preparing and executing this complex catering order is one of many ways our students gain real-world industry-level experience as part of CTE.
