That random text offering you a job? It’s probably a scam

Consumer Alerts from the Federal Trade Commission

If you need a job, that text messaging offering a full- or part-time position you didn't apply for might seem great.

You might be thinking, why not check it out? Unfortunately, it's likely a job scam.

THE BLACK BOX presents The Rescignos Holiday Comedy Show: Franklincense - Dec 14

THE BLACK BOX, the region’s premiere concert, theater, and event venue, will present The Rescignos: Franklincense, a brand new iteration of Paul Rescigno and Robbie Rescigno’s acclaimed holiday comedy show on December 14 at 8:00pm.

The Rescignos Holiday Comedy Show: Franklincense
Rescignos Holiday Comedy Show: Franklincense
For over a decade the Rescigno brothers have performed a brand new holiday show in NYC, and this year they are bringing another new holiday show to Franklin. Critic Roy Sander writes of the show, "Brilliant...I would be hard put to think of anyone I would rather be entertained by for an hour than The Rescignos." Cabaret Scenes' Rob Lester says, "The Rescigno twins raise sibling squabbling to an art form." Paul and Robbie add, "We also look pretty good in our sweater vests." This show is rated PG-13.

In addition to their theater, film, and TV credits, Paul and Robbie have appeared together on THE BLACK BOX stage in the Franklin Performing Arts Company productions of The Drowsy Chaperone, Sweeney Todd, and Something Rotten!. Additionally, Paul starred in Buyer & Cellar and Robbie in Bright Star, Proof, and Violet. While performing in Franklin, the Rescignos have guest taught classes for the Franklin School for the Performing Arts and Dean College.

Tickets are available at www.THEBLACKBOXonline.com or by calling the box office at 508-528-3370. THE BLACK BOX is located at 15 W. Central St. in downtown Franklin.

Master Plan Update Committee sets additional subcmte sessions and final review before bringing to Planning Board (video)

The Master Plan Update Committee met for under an hour on Wednesday, Dec 4, 2024. 10 members participated, 7 in Council Chambers, 3 remotely.

Quick recap:
  • The 'final' draft is to be updated with comments and potential feedback, subcommittees need to review and coordinate where there are some potential conflicts
  • Planning Board is the ultimate approval at Town level (they should actually be preparing the report) although Town Council does have approval before submittal to State
  • Discussion on the nature of changes, some are potential, not all need to be considered, respectfully; i.e. if a Planning Board chair makes a suggestion how is it handled? It depends...
  • Discussion on adding a subcommittee meeting to the schedule to review/process the changes, use of spreadsheet rather than updating the live
  • doc directly. The full committee will decide on the individual changes before they are made. For example, the pedestrian, walk ability changes even if the doc doesn't have the exact wording, when the work required gets is actually getting done, the final regulations will need to be ADA compliant to whatever is the current standard
  • Discussion on scheduling joint subcommittee meetings to resolve some around overlap items (Housing, Land Use)
  • Likely another full Committee session in January before bringing to Planning Board/ Town Council; discussion on processing inputs and turning around before getting to the Planning Board, discussion reiterates the Master Plan Committee is charged with development of the 10 year plan
  • Suggestion to give the Planning Board a 'redline' view of the final changes, could be easier for Planning Board for their review.
  • Consensus on the full Committee to meet Jan 15 to vote on changes, Planning Board would get the final copy redlined on the 27th; meeting starts at the same time, 6:30 PM
  • Chair thanks everyone for the work done this far, wishes all great holidays, Motion to adjourn, second, passes 10-0 via roll call

ALERT: 350 Mass Greater Franklin node MEETING CHANGED from Dec 5 to Dec 11

Hi everyone,

Because of the holidays and the Statewide Campaign presentation being recorded Monday, Dec 9, for nodes to review and discuss to determine our campaign focus for the foreseeable future, we need to change our meeting date.

Ordinarily we'd meet this Thursday, Dec 5, but at our next meeting we need to discuss and provide feedback to the Statewide Steering Team for their Jan 8 meeting to vote on statewide campaign(s).

As our next meeting time, Dec 19, is too close to the busy holidays, Steve and I decided we'd change the next node meeting to be Wed, Dec 11, at 7:00 PM, at First Universalist Society in Franklin, 262 Chestnut Street, Franklin.

If you cannot come Dec 11, please let me know and I'll send the recorded presentation to you (after Dec 9). You can view the recording and either call or email me your preferences and thoughts.

If you can come but you'll be late, that's OK. I'd rather you come if you can.

The meeting will be hybrid, both in-person and Zoom. We should be able to have both options available, but it would be best to be in person for a full-fledged discussion.

PLEASE PUT THIS CHANGE ON YOUR CALENDAR!  😁

🧀  🍪 🎄🎄🎄🎄 🍪   🧀

Also, as the holidays are upon us now, we'll have a little holiday party (we won't be ALL WORK as we discuss the campaign selection), so if you'd like to bring something simple and yummy, either hors d'oeuvres or sweets, to share, that would be fun! Rand and I will bring some cider and cheese and crackers. No big deal! 😁

I hope this works for you all. December is always problematic with families having busy holiday plans!
