FHS boys & girls soccer post wins, field hockey gains a tie on Friday

Via Twitter and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the fall sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, Sep 22, 2023.

Football = Franklin 13  @ Duxbury 42 - Final


Boys Soccer = Sharon, 0 @ Franklin, 4 – Final 
– Franklin scored once inside the final 10 minutes of the first half and once inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half to earn a big win over visiting Sharon. Hansy Jacques (from Wyatt Herndon) opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and Garrett Scagliarini (from Sean O’Leary) doubled the lead just before the break with a goal in the 37th minute. In the second half, Jacques returned the favor to Herndon for a 45th minute tally. Senior Rex Cinelli capped the scoring in the 61st minute.

Girls Soccer = Franklin, 8 @ Sharon, 0 – Final
– After opening her account for the season on Tuesday, Olivia Costa had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Panthers to their second straight 8-0 victory. Kelly O’Connor had a brace and dished out an assist and Anya Zub scored once and set up another. Selene Hammad and Gwen Holland both found the back of the net for Franklin. Morgan Lovell, Vera Hansen, Meghan Griffith, and Cailyn Bruno each had assists and Rachel Welch and Jill Hamilton split time in goal to secure the clean sheet.
Another 8-0 win @ Sharon Goals by Liv x3, Kelly x2, Anya, Gwen, and Genie G2 goes to Liv for a HATTY Onto the next, Tuesday @ N. Attleboro 3:45

Field Hockey = Franklin, 2 vs. Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final
– Franklin scored once in each of the first two quarters to stake a lead at halftime but Feehan rallied in the second half to tie the game. Emily Carney opened the scoring at 9:41 off of an assist from Haley Wernig while Sophia Cuneo scored an unassisted goal at 8:25 of the second quarter to make it 2-0. Devon Barry made four saves in net for the Panthers. Franklin head coach Michelle Hess praised the efforts of Cuneo, Wernig, and Lindsay Dennett.
