Sean Vinson = HockomockSports.com Player of the Week

The HockomockSports.com Player of the Week recognizes Sean Vinson of the FHS boys basketball team.

"Franklin senior Sean Vinson has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Jan. 23 through Jan. 29. Vinson is the 18th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2021-22 school year and the seventh of the winter season.
Vinson, a senior forward, scored in double digits in all three of Franklin’s games last week, helping the Panthers roll to three big wins and stay within two games of league-leading Taunton. Franklin’s second-leading scorer this season, at more than 10 points per game, Vinson also had a three-to-one assist-to-turnover ratio last week.
“Sean has given us such a lift this season on both ends of the floor,” said Franklin head coach CJ Neely. “All he cares about is winning. His leadership and unselfish attitude has helped set a team wide standard that has led to a lot of growth for our team. He takes on the toughest matchups and is so focused on giving whatever he can to help our team succeed.”

As part of the "Franklin For All" project, the zoning around the downtown area will be addressed. Since we are an MBTA community with two commuter rail stations, what will be done around the Forge Park station remains unclear at this time.

Lesson we should remember

"Nearly all cities in the United States imposed restrictions during the pandemic’s virulent second wave, which peaked in the fall of 1918. That winter, some cities reimposed controls when a third, though less deadly wave struck. But virtually no city responded in 1920.
People were weary of influenza, and so were public officials. Newspapers were filled with frightening news about the virus, but no one cared. People at the time ignored this fourth wave; so did historians. The virus mutated into ordinary seasonal influenza in 1921, but the world had moved on well before.

We should not repeat that mistake."
