My conversation with Drew Bogner ranged wide around his book "Letters to Students" (audio)

FM #1296 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 1296 in the series.

“Letters to Students” co-authored with Robert Allyn Scott
“Letters to Students”
This session shares my conversation with Franklin resident Drew Bogner. We had our conversation in the Franklin TV Studio on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

In our wide ranging conversation we cover

  • Drew’s short version of his road to Franklin

  • The idea for his book “Letters to Students” co-authored with Robert Allyn Scott

  • Journey vs destination

  • Nature and poetry

The recording runs about 1 hour 5 minutes, so let’s listen in. Audio link -> https://franklin-ma-matters.captivate.fm/episode/fm-1296-conversation-with-drew-bogner-09-17-24/

Scenes from Franklin TV & Radio inaugural Trunk or Treat (photo essay)

On Friday, October 25, several members of the Franklin TV & Radio gang got together to transform the studio parking lot into a community friendly Trunk or Treat.

One inquiring reporter greeted folks as they arrived with a couple of key questions:
"Was there any truth to the rumor that kids liked candy?"
The answer to this one was a responding Yes.

The second question was
"Is there any truth to the rumor that free candy is available here?"
The answer to that one was that they hoped so. Fortunately, they did confirm as they left, that it was indeed true.

One friendly youth leaving was reported to have said, the candy was good, the costumes were better.

Thank you, we'll take that into account for next year!

The TV & Radio gang does a whole lot more than this. You can watch, or listen, or read our output in multiple media formats.

How can you be sure of getting all the news?

You can subscribe for one email per day. We start with the event calendar; community, cultural, & town meetings, and close with the TV & radio broadcast schedule for that day. In between, you get all the rest of the accurate & timely news that matters for Franklin, MA.

Fire Dept stretched with multiple runs

Thursday, Franklin Firefighters Local 2637 posted:

"This morning, L2637 members have responded to multiple simultaneous calls for service. All off-duty members have been called in to assist with calls.
Fire Dept stretched with multiple runs
Fire Dept stretched with multiple runs
A total of 10 emergencies from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM, including an extended extrication of a male party with an open leg fracture on top of a roof. As all Franklin engines were tied up on calls, a Norfolk engine and Wrentham engine had to respond in their place to the extended operation.

During this operation, emergencies continued to come in. All Franklin ambulances were committed to calls, resulting in two (2) Bellingham ambulances, a Medway ambulance, and a Millis ambulance all having to respond to calls in Franklin.

#franklin #fire #pffm #iaff #staffingmatters"

A timely item for consideration as the FY 2026 budget development is in process. The 3rd ambulance requires additional staffing and has been talked of for a number of years. The past couple of years steps have been made to increase coverage. Let's find out what it will really take to provide appropriate staffing for police, fire, and "first responders" (like DPW) and make sure to include that in the long range plan. The long range plan should do more than get us by one budget year.
