2018 Woodstove Change Out - Rebates Available

It's back! Change out your wood-stove now!

Dear Friend of MassCEC,      The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), in coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, is excited to announce the launch of the 2018 Wood Stove Change-Out Program! Any Massachusetts resident or business currently operating a non-EPA-certified wood stove or fireplace insert is eligible for a rebate of up to $1,750 when replacing an existing stove with an eligible model. Those that meet certain income requirements are eligible for rebates of up to $3,250. If you own an old wood stove and would like to replace it with a new, low-emission EPA-certified wood or pellet stove, visit MassCEC's website to find out more. You will need to contact a local stove professional who will confirm that your old stove is eligible and submit a rebate application on your behalf after installing your new stove. ATO fraternity brothers to host 'A Day for Doh Boy' in memory of Michael Doherty

ATO fraternity brothers to host 'A Day for Doh Boy' 

in memory of Michael Doherty

"Alpha Tau Omega fraternity will host an event March 30 to raise funds for a memorial bench in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens to honor junior Michael Doherty, who died in May. 

The fundraiser—titled “A Day for Doh Boy,” a play on Doherty's nickname—will take place on March 30, and will begin with a barbecue on Craven Quad catered by Alpaca Peruvian Charcoal Chicken. Later that Friday, the event will move to Triangle Sportsplex Ice Rink, where Doherty spent much of his time at Duke practicing with the Club Hockey team.

“It’ll be really awesome to have the event at a place where he spent so much of his time and life,” said junior Kyle Baer, ATO president.

"With the next presidential primary less than two years away, the state’s top elections official is calling on lawmakers to pass an automatic voter registration bill this year so the system can be in place for 2020. 

“To make this really work, we need it passed in 2018,” Secretary of State William Galvin said at a press conference with members of the Massachusetts Election Modernization Coalition. 

An automatic voter-registration bill has now advanced to the House Ways and Means Committee. 

According to the election modernization group, 11 states have passed automatic registration legislation, and the bill here has the backing of more than half of the lawmakers in each branch, with 84 representatives and 22 senators signed on as cosponsors."

March 23, 2018 To the Tri-County Community, Happy Spring! With a half foot of snow on the ground our sports teams are all competing for gym time because they can't get on our fields. The longer days and outdoor sports teams trigger anticipation of warmer days, ball games, and track meets. Spring also means MCAS and next week our sophomores will sit for the ELA portion of the exams. All sophomore students will be taking the English Language Arts MCAS exam. The test will run over the course of three days: Tuesday, March 27, Wednesday, March 28, and Thursday, March 29. Please have your sophomore students go to bed at a reasonable time each night this week and come to school on time and ready to do their best. Students may bring reading material if they finish early, or may work on homework that is not ELA related. Please remind your children that cell phones, earbuds, iPods, or any electronic devices are not allowed at the testing sites. It would be better to leave them home or in their lockers during MCAS. Please make sure your child is in school and on time each day of the testing and if there is a problem, let the school know as soon as possible. We are all disheartened by another school shooting in Maryland this week. I want to thank the TC Student Council for their hard work and sincerity in honoring those that died in Florida over a month ago. Our Student Council has not had much cooperation from the weather, but have remained steadfast in their desire to join thousands of students in Massachusetts and across the country in expressing their support for safe schools. They have approached this in a very responsible and cooperative way that respects all views and honors the lost. We will update these pages once the students get a chance to express themselves. Spring also means the eighth-grade student application process is moving along through the interview phase, into placement testing, and the mailing of acceptance letters. Applicants should set aside Saturday, April 28, 2018 to come in for our annual placement exam. More details will be sent in the near future. It is my pleasure to announce Jayme Martello, a senior in the cosmetology program, has been awarded a 2-year full scholarship to Dean College. Though the scholarship has typically been announced at graduation exercises in the past, this year it has been announced earlier in order to meet the College's acceptance fall enrollment schedule. Congratulations to Jamie from all of us at Tri-County. Did you know Tri-County is celebrating its' 40th year? In case you haven't heard, the 40 Year Celebration and Benefit party is scheduled for Saturday night, April 7, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM here at the high school. Weekend train service on the Franklin Line will be replaced by ADA accessible shuttle buses, making all regularly scheduled stops, between Forge Park/495 and Readville stations from April 7th through May 27th during the installation of PTC.

Shuttle Stops

Free, accessible bus shuttles will travel between Forge Park/495 and Readville, making all stops (except Plimptonville*).

At Readville, you can connect to the Franklin Line Commuter Rail train, making all stops between Readville and South Station (except Hyde Park*). You'll need to pay a Zone 2 fare.
