It’s poetry. It’s balance. It’s grace. It’s power,” Allman said, and all of those virtues together are what defined her performance Monday night to give the U.S. track and field team its first gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics — and its first gold in women’s discus since 2008."

Tri-Country RVTHS Juniors were excited to get back out and start working in a clinical setting this February. After nearly a year of being unable to go into a clinical setting due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Juniors are eager and excited to help the residents at the Timothy Daniel's House in Holliston.
"Our students missed those meaningful connections they make with the residents," says Kylie Geikie, Health Careers instructor. Students help the thirty long-term care patients with activities such as feeding, bathing/showering, transferring with and without a Hoyer lift, ambulation, incontinence care, personal companionship, and taking vitals. The care they provide for these residents helps ease the facilities workers' burden and allows the students to earn the hours needed for their CNA Certification.
The students have risen to the challenge of COVID-19, used their knowledge of infectious diseases and infection control practices to care for the most vulnerable population. Typically, the Tri-County students would do their clinical hours throughout the year in preparation for a cooperative education (Co-op) position in their senior year; however, this year, students were restricted by the visitation limitations set forth by facilities. Tri-County is the only school in the radius currently participating in on-site clinical hours.
Tri-County students usually work at a long-term facility which houses approximately 100 long-term care patients, and have been enjoying the smaller, more intimate setting of the Timothy Daniel's House. Working with fewer patients has allowed the students to spend more time with each resident and build a relationship.
“I wish I could sit and talk to each resident for an hour,” said one of the students. After two weeks in the hospital, one of the residents was treated to a "spa day" by two students, including a shower, hair curling, and nails. "The level of compassion, empathy, and passion our students bring to each day of the clinical is inspiring," commented Geikie.

"Last week the Franklin Police Department provided Fair and Impartial Policing training to all of our officers. Fair and Impartial Policing uses modern science to train police officers on implicit bias and gives them the tools they need to reduce and manage bias. The recent police reform bill passed by the Commonwealth speaks to eventually providing this type of training for officers. We felt it was a priority now, and brought the training to our staff. The training was intensive, and conducted byFair & Impartial Policing.A news story on the same training was done in another part of the country last year, and provides information on what the class was about. https://wxow.com/.../surrounding-law-enforcement.../... "Millions of jobs that have been shortchanged or wiped out entirely by the coronavirus pandemic are unlikely to come back, economists warn, setting up a massive need for career changes and retraining in the United States.
The coronavirus pandemic has triggered permanent shifts in how and where people work. Businesses are planning for a future where more people are working from home, traveling less for business, or replacing workers with robots. All of these modifications mean many workers will not be able to do the same job they did before the pandemic, even after much of the U.S. population gets vaccinated against the deadly virus.
Microsoft founder-turned-philanthropist Bill Gates raised eyebrows in November when he predicted that half of business travel and 30 percent of “days in the office” would go away forever. That forecast no longer seems far-fetched. In a report coming out later this week that was previewed to The Washington Post, the McKinsey Global Institute says that 20 percent of business travel won’t come back and about 20 percent of workers could end up working from home indefinitely. These shifts mean fewer jobs at hotels, restaurants and downtown shops, in addition to ongoing automation of office support roles and some factory jobs."
"Training never stops. Franklin PD works with Blue Line Corp. every year to bring their live fire trailer to the PD. Officers are put through accuracy, and judgment scenarios to keep them fresh even when the outdoor ranges are not available.
Here Deputy Chief Mill and Sergeant Johnson work through a video scene in which officers are given a scenario, and walk though the situation and fire live rounds into a projection screen if the situation calls for it. Not all do, and officers must use sound verbal commands, and answer for why they did, or did not shoot.
It is another learning tool the Franklin Police uses. Many people think police training with firearms is all shooting. This type of training forces officers to use good judgement, and explain their actions. Not every scene is a shoot situation, and officers must use de-escalation or less lethal options if called for."

"Proud day for the Franklin Police Department as our officer Tyler Peabody is presented with an award from Norfolk County TTAC and Brookline MA Police Department for his work with the Crisis Intervention Training program.
CIT is an advanced level of training for officers to help them recognize and assist those individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
Look for coverage from Boston 25 News's Robert Goulston (6pm) and WBZ NewsRadio's Kim Tunnicliffe-WBZ Reporter as they speak to Officer Peabody, Chief Lynch, and Advocates, Inc. mental health clinician Kallie Montagano about the Franklin Police approach to helping those in need.
(yes, Ben saw television cameras and assumed they were here for him..)"

“It’s like an insurance policy,” said Franklin Police Chief Thomas Lynch, whose department belongs to the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, which includes nearly 50 cities and towns.
Lynch acknowledged the average police officer lacks full training in areas like crowd control, formation and keeping cool under pressure.
“You try to keep as cool as you can,” he said. “It’s very difficult.”
To achieve a level of calm, Lynch said his officers participate in training exercises that simulate interaction with what Lynch called “agitators.” Franklin officers are also trained in use-of-force and de-escalation tactics, although the chief acknowledged that training is unlike real situations."
