Softball = Franklin, 1 vs. Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final 

– Franklin and Bishop Feehan were tied through six innings but the visiting Shamrocks plated the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to squeak out a win over the Panthers. Trailing by a run going into the bottom of the sixth, Sarah Boozang (2-for-3) smacked a one-out triple to right, and after a walk from Carly Johnson-Pellegri, Marley Allen brought the run home with an RBI ground out to second. Sarah Sacramone had a stellar outing in the circle, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk, striking out seven in a complete game.

Girls Lacrosse = Franklin, 14 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – Final 

– Franklin raced out to an 8-2 lead at halftime and pitched a second half shutout to return home from Easton with a 14-2 victory over the Tigers. Julia Flynn had a strong all-around game with three goals, two assists, and four draw controls while Gabi Consigli and Izzy Cross each finished with a hat trick and one helper in the win. Katie Ryan and Sophia Sacchetti each chipped in with two tallies, Vera Hansen added one goal, Tori Cahill registered one assist, and Norah MacCallum anchored a strong defensive effort from the Panthers with four caused turnovers and two ground balls. Taylor McAndrew and Kit Perron each had a goal each for OA.

Girls Tennis = Franklin, 0 vs. Bishop Feehan, 5 – Final

Panthers see their 12 match win streak end against Bishop Feehan 5-0 in a non-league matchup.

Doubles team of Brooke Daniels & Sydney Tolonen had a great match but lost 11-9 in a 3rd set Superbreaker.  

Next up is North Attleborough on Tuesday.

Franklin Food Pantry says "Thank you" for more than 11,000 pounds of food for "Stamp Out Hunger" campaign

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, Franklin, Massachusetts letter carriers participated in the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive to benefit the Franklin Food Pantry.

More than 11,000 pounds of food was collected from Franklin residents, which equates to more than 9,000 meals. The Pantry extends its gratitude to the letter carriers who filled their truck with the much-needed food. 

Thank you to the generous residents of Franklin, the committed volunteers who sorted and restocked the food, Stop & Shop in Franklin for lending grocery carts to easily transport the food, the extra support from Jim Sierra, and the Franklin Senior Center for providing the extra space to collect, check, and sort the food.

Police Station Building Cmte selects CHA firm as Owner Project Manager (OPM)

The Police Station Building Committee met on Monday, May 13 to interview the final three candidates for the Owner Project Manager (OPM). 

The three firms in order of appearance were Vertex, Collier, and CHA. CHA was the unanimous choice as the top firm. Vertex second, and Collier third.

Town Administrator Jamie Hellen will commence negotiations on contract with CHA and assuming it is successful, the project will proceed. If not, the second vendor will begin negotiations.
