The Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School is pleased to announce the date for our Fall 2024 High School Fair which will be held on September 19th from 5:00pm to 6:00 pm in the BFCCPS Learning Commons located at 500 Financial Park.

The event is open to 8th grade students both at BFCCPS and from local schools as well. Please note that a parent or guardian must accompany all students for the duration of the event.
Students are invited to pick up brochures and applications, ask about fall open house dates and speak directly with representatives and current students of the schools that will be in attendance.
Each year, the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN) Annual Conference convenes one of the largest gatherings of nonprofit professionals in the state. The day-long event will include an engaging keynote session, a wide selection of exciting workshops, networking opportunities, and the presentation of our Lifetime Achievement Awards.

September is Hunger Action Month—a yearly, nationwide campaign to raise hunger awareness and inspire people to take action. This year, the Franklin Food Pantry is bringing attention to food rescue and recovery.
Join us as we welcome Liz Miller, Community Relations Manager at Spoonfuls, a Massachusetts-based food recovery organization, as she examines how collecting fresh, edible food that would otherwise go to waste, and distributing it to social service agencies like The Pantry can help address food insecurity and the climate crisis.
Broadway’s LIAM FENNECKEN will star as Dewey Finn in FPAC’s production of School of Rock this October!! After touring the U.S. and South Korea with School of Rock, Liam appeared on Broadway as Amos in Chicago! He has also toured North America with Once, American Idiot, and Peter Pan 360. Directed by FPAC Artistic Director Raye Lynn Mercer with choreography by Broadway’s Clay Rice-Thomson (Moulin Rouge!, King Kong, Matilda, Newsies), and Music Direction by Hallie Wetzell.
🥁Based on the hit movie, School of Rock follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out? With its sensational live kids’ rock band, School of Rock – The Musical is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music. The Franklin School Committee met as scheduled on Tuesday, Sep 10, 2024. All seven members participated in the meeting, one remotely (Gallagher).
The meeting had an Executive Session to review a grievance and discuss negotiation strategy. While it was anticipated to be short, the session did extend 85 minutes before the meeting resumed in public session.
The District Improvement Plan was presented and approved (by a 7-0 via roll call vote)
Redistricting update - proposed district alignment scheduled to be shared via a "Storymap" before the next meeting and then explained fully during the Sep 28 meeting with a vote to approve the alignment of the new schools scheduled for the first October meeting. The appointment of Rose Turco to represent the Schools to the Franklin TV Board of Directors was approved (by a 7-0 via roll call vote)
Hiring update filled 57 positions, 4 teacher vacancies, 8 additional resignations (since the August 27 meeting). Mostly from buildings subs and ESPs. Not usual to have this many early in the school year. Instability of budget is a factor in the leaving and hiring process

Boys Soccer = King Philip, 0 @ Franklin, 6 – Final
– Franklin broke into the big column in a big way, erupting for six goals to take down rival King Philip. Senior Garrett Scagliarini had a hand in all but one goal for the Panthers, scoring his first career hat trick while assisting on two more goals. Wyatt Herndon, Jason Proenca, and Jibrell Brahimi each scored once for Franklin while Matt Honekamp, Richie Popovic, and Josh Rappa reach registered one assist.
Girls Soccer = Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 1 – Final
– Franklin sent a message to the rest of the league with a dominant display against defending Kelley-Rex co-champ King Philip. Kelley O’Connor scored twice and assisted a third goal to help the Panthers take an early lead in the league standings. Freshman Lily Strong scored her second goal in as many varsity games, assisted by O’Connor, to put the Panthers in front. O’Connor would score the next two goals, assisted by Strong and Ava Villela, to put Franklin in control of the match. Vera Hansen would add a fourth with an Olimpico. Villela stood out for the Panthers with her play in midfield. KP avoided the shutout in the closing seconds of the match. Ella McDonald got the consolation goal for the Warriors, assisted by Dani Lomuscio.
Volleyball = Foxboro, 0 @ Franklin, 3 – Final
– A strong team performance boosted Franklin to a dominant win at home with a 3-0 sweep (25-7, 25-8, 25-13). Freshman Emerson Delleo notched 10 kills to go along with seven digs, junior Olivia Alberti recorded seven kills, and junior Makayla Kuykendall made plays all over the court with nine digs, eight aces, and seven kills. Brooke Daniels dished out 27 assists for the Panthers.
– A four-goal fourth quarter helped Franklin put an exclamation mark on a statement win over a strong Foxboro team. The Panthers scored twice in the first quarter — the opening tally from Haley Wernig on an assist from Raena Crandall followed by an unassisted goal from Jossie Camp. Franklin’s lead doubled at 9:03 of the second when Maddie O’Brien converted a pass from Ella Marzullo to make it 3-0, which is where the game stayed for the rest of the quarter and through a scoreless third. In the fourth, Crandall and Marzullo each scored unassisted goals while Addi Weiss scored twice in the final five minutes to cap the scoring. Devon Barry (one save) and Chloe Strassner (three saves) combined for the shutout for Franklin.
Boys Cross Country = Sharon, 28 @ Franklin, 27 – Final
– Franklin defeated defending Hocks champs Sharon in a razor thin matchup. Sharon standouts Alex Blumen (17:15) and Karthik Pisupati (17:53) took first and second place on the 2.9 mile course, but Franklin answered with sophomore Kyle Twomey (18:07), senior Alex Fiorvanti (18:09), and junior Tyler Anderson (18:13). Senior Jonathan Pink (18:32) and sophomore Nick Mitchell (18:38) sprinted for seventh and eighth place respectively to secure the one point win for the Panthers.
Girls Cross Country = Sharon, 48 @ Franklin, 15 – Final
– The Franklin Panthers swept the first five places in their season opener versus Sharon. Junior Victoria Courtright-Lim led the way with a time of 21:38 on the 2.9 mile home course. She was followed by senior teammates Fiona Morrison, Carli Walbert, Abby Baker, and Emma Pruitt. Sharon was led by Julia Slavsky, who finished sixth overall.
Golf = Franklin, 146 @ Sharon, 171 – Final
– Liam Lewandowski had an eagle on the first hole and Caden Sullivan birdied the fifth as the two shared medalist honors in an impressive performance by the Panthers on the road at The Cape Club of Sharon. Both Lewandowski and Sullivan came in at even par 36 while Jack Nelson and Cam LaBrie, who both had a pair of birdies, finished the day at 37. Josh Binder fired a low-round of 41 for the Eagles, Ethan Sparacino and Benny Hertzel came in at 43, and Kuvum Suppal rounded out Sharon’s scoring with a 44.
