"Residents of Norfolk (and neighboring communities) are invited to share songs or poetry; listen to others' songs and poetry; and provide encouragement and constructive advice (if requested) related to the process of writing songs and poetry.
Songwriters and poets at all levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to attend! So, bring your voice, lyrics, poems, guitars, etc.
We'll supply the room, rapt attention, light snacks, some music stands, and a keyboard. It's okay to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
If there is suitable interest, we will consider making this a regular event.

Franklin Art Association monthly meeting October 1 features guest artist Charles Guay

The Franklin Art Association warmly welcomes the public to it’s next monthly public meeting at 6:30 PM on October 1. Our guest artist demonstrator will be Charlie Guay at the Franklin Senior Center where he will be demonstrating oil painting with Cold Wax Medium.

Charles Guay’s style is varied and ranges from representational images to abstract design. He received his BFA in Painting from UMass Dartmouth and continued his education by earning a MFA at Maine College of Art. Charles has been a featured artist for a variety of demonstrations and workshops in the local area. His work has been shown in New York, Maine and area galleries in Southeastern Massachusetts. His paintings can be found in many private collections in the US and Europe.

The Franklin Art Association takes pride in offering a student scholarship yearly to a local art student wishing to continue their art career in art instruction after high school graduation.

Please join us at our monthly meetings.

Beaver Street Interceptor (BSI) Project Construction Updates ~ Sunday Night (9/14) through Friday Morning (9/19)

RT. 140 (West Central Street) Night Time Work and Lane Closure Alert!

Due to MassDOT regulations, the Construction crew is being forced to work at night.  Starting Sunday, September 14th through the morning of Friday September 19th the construction crew will be working from 9 PM to 5 AM

During this time the Contractor will continue with the installation of the sewer force main within RT. 140 (West Central Street). The work will be contained within the southbound lane from Burger King to Beaver Street. During this time there will be daily lane closures on RT. 140 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Please use caution when traveling in this area and follow all posted signs.

Beaver Street Pump Station:
At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with construction of the exterior building structure and internal building component installation.

Mark your calendar. The pumpkins are coming! 

Come visit the 6th Annual Pumpkin Patch at St. John's Episcopal Church at 237 Pleasant Street, Franklin. It will be open September 28 through October 31.

A huge selection of pumpkins, gourds and colorful mum plants will fill the front lawn at St. John's Church. Kids will have fun picking out their favorites. It's a cute photo opportunity for families and a good time to start decorating for autumn.

  • Monday-Friday 4:00 pm-6:00 pm
  • Saturdays 10:00 am-5:00 pm
  • Sundays Noon-4:00 pm
  • Monday October 14, open all day from 10 am to 5 pm.
The pumpkins are grown using sustainable agricultural practices that help benefit the environment. They are grown in a region of New Mexico with 42% unemployment, providing jobs for Navajo people. 

Proceeds from pumpkin & plant sales benefit the Navajo Nation in New Mexico as well as St. John's Church and its service in the Franklin community.
