Traffic alert for St Mary's/Town Common area on Wednesday & Thursday

Be aware:

"Uxbridge Police Officer Stephen A. LaPorta will be laid to rest Thursday after he was killed when he was struck by a tractor-trailer while assisting a driver at the site of a crash last week, officials said.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary Parish in Franklin followed by a private burial, State Police said in a statement. A wake is scheduled for Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. also at St. Mary Parish, according to State Police."

Monday evening, I had the opportunity to preview the 10th store for Haven, the first in Massachusetts, which also gives Franklin another in a long line of firsts.

They are serious about premium chicken. Per my brief conversation with Etkin Tekin, CEO & Co-Founder, 3 of the 4 co-founders are in Franklin for the opening.

• The Franklin management team has been in training to prepare for Wednesday's opening since July, 2025
• The Franklin operation has been schooled in the Haven "hot chicken" process which takes 3 days of prep for the chicken (marinade, etc.) before getting selected for your meal

2025 Hockomock Sports Volleyball Awards recognize Kuykendall, Alberti, O’Connor & Delleo

Franklin senior outside hitter Makayla Kuykendall has been selected as the 2025 HockomockSports.com Volleyball Player of the Year. Kuykendall capped a dominant four-year career by leading the Panthers to their first-ever state championship, serving as the centerpiece of the most successful season in program history.

A two-time HockomockSports.com First Team selection who also earned Second Team honors in 2023, Kuykendall has been the focal point of Franklin’s attack for the past couple of seasons and a consistent presence in all six rotations. Her ability to contribute at a high level in every phase of the game made her one of the most reliable players in the league and a driving force behind the Panthers’ title run.
