Nutting - The under ground is done, the steel is rising. The only real unknown left is if when we take down the old school we find something we didn't expect.
Roy - Anytime we can save the taxpayers money it is a no-brainer
Nutting - projected to be about a 20% savings over the life of the bond
Mercer - yes, we have a year spike but otherwise it saves us money in the long term
Jones - many of the naysayers for the school were fearful that the school was going to be a taj mahal and be full of cost overruns. To that we have been under and continuing to reduce is good.
Powderly - I appreciate the diligence in looking to avoid surprises, saving money overall

It is our hope to create awareness within families to talk about two very important Donor topics that are often difficult to discuss. St Mary’s teen ministry is organizing a “Cross Walk” procession on the Franklin Town Common beginning at 12 p.m. on Good Friday, March 29.
Officials talk Upper Charles Trail expansion in Milford
A meeting was held in Milford on Tuesday night that included officials from the five communities through which the Upper Charles Trail is set to run. The main discussion involved overcoming obstacles, including financing and land acquisition, to complete the 27-mile loop.

Healthy Future Franklin Seeks Community Sparkplugs, March 20, 6 – 8 PM
Join Healthy Futures Franklin to create sustainable change in our community. We believe that it takes a village (or community) to energize, inspire, and spark change. We are looking for sparkplugs (volunteers to serve on subcommittees) in Franklin who also believe that:
- Play is powerful – Access to parks, outdoor recreation, and sidewalks is a priority.
- Healthy eating is a right not a privilege – Access to healthy, affordable foods is possible.
- United voices create change – Increase awareness of programs, projects and polices underway.
Healthy Futures Franklin, a Mass in Motion Initiative sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, is a community-driven coalition committed to promoting healthy eating and active living through programs, projects and policies, making the healthy choice the easy choice.

Subcommittees will be meeting for the first time on March 20th at the Franklin Food Pantry Conference Room to focus on developing time lines to implement high impact strategies and policies to improve the health of Franklin. Become part of the movement or attend to learn more. There is no obligation to stay involved, but please consider learning what this is all about and help be part of the solution.
Both Subcommittees are scheduled to meet Wednesday, March 20, at the Franklin Food Pantry back to back to accommodate community members who are interested in both areas of focus.

Franklin Road Races in May
For the runners and walkers in Franklin, there are a bunch of 5K events coming up.
May 11

Tougias has just published his 20th book, "A Storm Too Soon,’’ a gripping account of three men who barely knew each other trapped in a flimsy raft amid 70-foot waves in a 2007 tropical storm in the Gulf Stream.
"It’s funny how fate works. I was a business major in college. I didn’t write a word until I was 30,’’ Tougias said recently. "But I’ve always been interested in anything to do with the sea.’’
Subtitled "A True Story of Disaster, Survival And An Incredible Rescue,’’ his new book chronicles the struggles of Captain JP de Lutz and his two crewmen after their 47-foot sailboat capsized in raging seas.

In fact, Carlucci has already picked a name: Today’s Special. The restaurant, she hopes, will provide crucial job opportunities for young adults with special needs amid an engaging, vital social environment.
"It’s important for a lot of reasons," she said. "I feel like young adults with special needs really live a separate life from other young people, and I would really like to blur the lines between them."
She added, "Once they leave school … the opportunities really go away — social opportunities and employment opportunities. We are looking to give them a place to go and work. Not everybody is going to want that social type of job, but some do..."
