Have you ever paid for something and later found out you could have gotten it for free? It might make you wish someone had told you it was free — before you paid. That's what a lot of people have reported to the FTC about companies charging them hundreds of dollars to get their Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS. But there's no reason to pay anyone for your EIN. The IRS issues EINs for free.

Respectfully, the Library and Senior Center calendars are too full of events to include all their events so we tend to focus on the major events. Town and School meetings are also kept separate. Links for all the calendars are shared here:
Fallen Hero Recognition is conducted each date that one of the 45 were reported to have died. All recognitions are held at 9 AM on the Town Common Veterans Walkway.
The brief program (approx. 5 minutes) includes the placing of a Memorial Wreath for the day, a reading of whatever history may be available for that veteran, a salute from those present, and the playing of Taps.
This is a way of keeping the memory of that veteran alive. The public and any family members are welcome to attend.
The Franklin Cultural District is excited to announce the start of the Artsy Box 25' Project! This year we are focused on the renewal of the box "Love Bugs" located on Town Common created by Ray Powers and Greyson Higgens.
Call for Artists - Artsy Box 25 Project
We are calling on all local artists for designs that speak to the vibrant energy of Franklin. The selected artist will need to be able to prime and prep the box prior to painting it with the approved design. We are looking for artists that will add color and flare to our town.

Today we are exactly 8 weeks from our Annual Memorial Day Parade!!
And we have a NEW PARADE ROUTE!
As the Commander of the Franklin VFW Post I have the honor as serving as Co-Chair of the Parade Committee with my friend Dick Hynes, Commander of the Franklin American Legion.
The whole group has been working hard the last couple of months to plan the parade and one of the things we're doing is a new parade route.
The parade will kick off from Horace Mann Middle School at 11am on Monday, May 26th. It will head up Oak St (which turns into Daniel McCahill St) and then proceed down Union St to the old Davis Thayer school. The Parade will then turn left onto 140. The parade will again turn left onto Emmons St and then a left onto Main where it will head back to the Town Common.
This is a shorter route at 1.33 miles.
The parade will be continuous, there are no stops at the cemeteries or Dean College anymore (we are still doing those ceremonies, just moving them to before the parade).
We feel this new route will make it easier for our older veterans to march and smoother for the PD to accomodate.
Please see the attached map.
Please hit me with your questions, comments, complaints, etc.
We look forward to seeing you on the NEW PARADE ROUTE!
