Boys Soccer = Franklin, 1 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final

– A goal late in the first half proved to be the difference as Franklin secured two points on the road at North Attleboro. High pressure from junior Matthew MacNeil forced a turnover inside the box and classmate Sam Gurney latched onto it, finishing a shot from 10 yards out for the lone goal of the game.

Girls Soccer = North Attleboro, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – Final 

– North Attleboro rallied from two goals down and Ava Pratt converted a late penalty to lift Big Red to a huge upset and its first win over the Panthers since 2020. Pratt started the North comeback with a free kick from 20 yards. A few minutes later, Angelina Bostock equalized for the visitors, following up the rebound on a free kick from Abigail Wholey. In the closing minutes of the game, Pratt drew a foul in the box. Keeping her cool, Pratt went low to the keeper’s left to secure North’s third win of the young season. Gracyn Cuzzi made 10 saves for North, which got a great defensive effort from Samantha Nikou and Rhylee Lagor.

Field Hockey = Franklin, 13 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final

– Franklin senior Liz Dumais scored a pair of goals, including her first career tally, and had one assist while freshman Riley Goodman added her first career goal as the Panthers picked up a big win on the road. Junior Ella Marzullo netted a hat trick in the win and sophomore Penelope Brady found the back of the net twice.

Town Of Franklin Electric Vehicle Charging Stations To Begin Charging A Fee On October 1, 2025

Please be advised that as of October 1, 2025 the Town of Franklin will begin charging a fee for the use of its AmpUp Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations. 

The fee will be $0.35 per kWh, up to 4 hours. 

After 4 hours, an additional $1.00 per hour will apply. Using ChargePoint’s cost estimator, the cost will be approximately $3 for a 2-hour charge, about $6 for a 4-hour charge, and about $10 for a 6-hour charge. 

Electric vehicle stations have been free to users since the inception of this program, however it has been determined that charging a fee for this service is necessary to help offset the cost of the electric supply and ongoing maintenance associated with the charging stations.

The Town’s AmpUp EV Charging Stations are located at the following locations:

● Franklin Municipal Building: 355 East Central Street - (6) Charging Stations

● Franklin High School: 218 Oak Street - (8) Charging Stations

● Franklin Public Library: 118 Main Street - (2) Charging Stations

● DPW Administration Building 257 Fisher Street - (6) Charging Stations

● DPW Garage: 40 Hayward Street - (2) Charging Stations

AmpUp provides drivers with an efficient and intuitive all-in-one app that makes it easy to reserve and pay for charging sessions. In order to use an AmpUp charging station, users must first download the AmpUp mobile application and create an account, which is required to activate and pay for charging sessions.

Electric Vehicle charging stations are an important component to reducing energy consumption and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Since their installation, the Town’s charging stations have eliminated an estimated 17,200 kg of greenhouse gases.

Fallen Hero Recognition: Levi Pieri - Sep 18, 2025, 9 AM

Memorial event today (9/18/25) at 9 AM at the Veterans Walkway on the Town Common to honor Private Levi Pieri, WWI. 

This program will include the placing of a Memorial Wreath for the day, the playing of Taps, a salute from those present, and a reading of whatever history  may be available for that veteran.  This is a way of keeping the memory of that veteran alive.

Levi Pieri, Pvt US Army, WWI

Little is known of Pvt. Pieri. He was inducted 31 Aug 1918, and served with 33rd Company, 9th Training Battalion. It appears that while moving through training at Camp Devens, Levi contracted a disease, most likely the world-wide outbreak of flu and passed on this date Sep 18, 1918, while only having served less than 3 weeks.

Town Council welcomed 2 new Police hires, moved zoning bylaws to 2nd reading, hears of solicitation process, and personnel updates (video)

The Franklin Town Council met as scheduled on Wednesday, Sept 17, 2025. 7 of the Councilors were present in Chambers for this session (2 absent due to illness).

The discussion on the Crossing Neighborhood District causes Council Frongillo to recuse himself. His father's business operates in the proposed zoning change.

Quick recap:

• Town Clerk Nancy Danello provides update on biennial election status
• School Cmte Chair Dave Callaghan provides an update on school opening and traffic issues being worked
• 2 new hires effectively back filling for positions authorized within the reduced Police Dept staffing were sworn in and pinned by family members
• 2 public hearings were opened separately; one for the 2 commercial kitchen bylaws to enable the operation of a commercial kitchen within a residence if on septic (not on town sewer); and second, a set of 6 bylaws to create the Crossing Neighborhood zoning district. It would be similar to the Downtown zoning with a couple of exemptions. Councilor Frongillo recused himself from these discussions and votes as his father's business operates in the proposed zoning area
• In legislation for action 
• all 8 of the zoning changes moved to a second reading
• The Council voted to formalize the early in person voting schedule for the November election as announced
• A couple of water & sewer extensions were approved
• A definition of a collection container was accepted and authorized to extend the current use by religious organizations to non-profits, in particular the American Legion and VFW
• A presentation on Solicitation Permits by Police Chief Thomas Lynch and Deputy Police Chief James West was made to provide some info on the process in response to an incident earlier this year. 
• In the Town Administrator's Report 2 key items were covered; 
• one a series of personnel moves; B Taberner's replacement was announced, M Kinhart and M D'Angelo are retiring, Breeka Li Goodlander to return from pregnancy leave in mid-Oct; 
• second, the Assessors revealed new growth will be about $271,000 shorter than projected earlier this year. This will need to be adjusted somehow before the tax rate hearing in Nov/Dec. It seems to be reflecting the slowdown in growth due to interest rates, uncertainty, and the 'nimby-factor', etc.
• The Council entered into executive session not to return to public meeting

Town Councilor Melanie Hamblen opens the ceremony, then introduces Meg Hagen and Erin Gallagher, founders/co-owners, who then introduce the remaining speakers until the ribbon is cut. The kids led the countdown.
