Cast Announced for FPAC’s performance of "Into the Woods"

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will present James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s timeless, yet relevant, Into the Woods March 14-22 at THE BLACK BOX! Directed by FPAC Artistic Director Raye Lynn Mercer. The production will feel immersive with the audience seated throughout the theater space and actors traveling on paths amongst them.

Cast Announced for FPAC’s performance of "Into the Woods"
The cast will star Broadway’s Liam Fennecken (Chicago) as the Baker with FPAC’s Kellie Stamp as The Baker’s Wife and Hallie Wetzell as The Witch. They are joined by NYC’s Miracle Myles (Hadestown Tour) as Jack, Ali Funkhouser as Cinderella, Robbie Rescigno as Cinderella’s Prince/The Wolf, Paul Rescigno as Rapunzel’s Prince, and Boston’s Anissa Perona as Rapunzel.

The cast also features FPAC’s Nick Paone as the Narrator/Mysterious Man, Kim Frigon as Jack’s Mother, ZoĆ« Iacovelli as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Liz Ayres-Kerr as Cinderella’s Mother, Timothy Ayres-Kerr as Cinderella’s Father, Melissa Baratta as Granny, and Charley Eastman as the Steward.

Dean College Musical Theater students Isis Wilson and Emily Marino will appear as Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. The cast is rounded out with FPAC Student Apprentices from the Franklin School for the Performing Arts Aida DiChiara as Little Red, Hailey Hulbig as Florinda, Baree Frigon as Lucinda, and Matthew Packard as Milky White (featuring Puppet Design by Molly Jae Chase).

The story follows a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Content Advisory: Into the Woods contains some violence, death, and darker themes that may not be suitable for all audiences, particularly young children in Act 2. The musical adaptation of the classic fairy tales includes a “darker” and less “happy ending” focused story than traditional fairy tales.

Matinee performances will feature an “Act 1 Only” option for kids with activities/supervision provided next door at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts during Act 2.

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) is an Actors’ Equity Small Professional Theater company based at THE BLACK BOX in downtown Franklin, MA. Each season, FPAC produces musicals, plays, ballets, and more featuring Broadway stars, professional actors, local performers, and emerging artists.

Tickets for Into the Woods are available at FPAConline.com or by calling the box office at 508-528-3370.

Franklin TV: Computers – Lots of ‘em

Stacking ‘em up – to get it done.

by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director 03/08/2026

Due to the inclement weather our Conservation Commission held their recent meeting via Zoom. Sooo, about a half-dozen souls tied their computers together over the internet via Zoom. That’s a computer for each person, and an ‘invisible’ computer at Zoom to connect them all and record the proceedings.

We also join the meeting in order to connect it to our Government channel. So, I fire up a computer at home and join the meeting in order to coordinate that connection. Then I fire up a second computer at home to control another computer at the studio that will also join their meeting and send it to yet another computer that will stream it to our YouTube channel. I also connect the meeting to another computer that plays the meeting on our government cable channel while also recording it.

Franklin TV: Computers – Lots of ‘em.

We set up this computing cascade well in advance of the meeting’s start – because you just never know… Total computer count – 12. What could possibly go wrong?

And – as always –
Thank you for watching.

From Participation to Purpose: Stories of Civic Engagement & Civic Careers (virtual event)

From Participation to Purpose: Stories of Civic Engagement & Civic Careers (virtual event)
From Participation to Purpose: Stories of
Civic Engagement & Civic Careers (virtual event)
As a part of this year's Massachusetts Civic Learning Week, a virtual panel was designed for educators and students (but open to all!) and encourages panelists to share their "civic journey".

Two of the four panelists are from Franklin: Cobi Frongillo and Jen Knight-Levine!

From Participation to Purpose: Stories of Civic Engagement and Civic Careers
This session will engage middle and high school students and teachers in a discussion about pathways that panelists have taken to civic engagement. Four individuals representing a range of pathways and professions will participate in a moderated Q & A panel session to share their own educational experiences that helped pave the way for successful civic engagement.
Teachers and students are invited to work together ahead of the panel to come up with interview style questions they would like to see the participants respond to during the session, with opportunities available for classes to directly ask questions during the panel.
This moderated panel and Q&A session will provide middle and high school students and teachers with valuable perspectives on the skills and experiences that lead to meaningful civic involvement.

2026 Reach Out Breakfast Impact Video: Shawna's Story (video)

I had the privilege to participate in the Hockomock YMCA "Reach Out Breakfast" on Friday morning. The video of Shawna's Story is shareworthy.
"Watch the moving story of Shawna and her children, shared at our March 6th Campaign Breakfast.
Through life’s most difficult moments, our Y is here to provide an immediate safety net for individuals and families in need. None of this support is possible without the generosity of the many people and organizations who give to our annual Reach Out Campaign. Thank you for helping us be there when it matters most.

Jan 6 memorial plaque finally placed to honor law enforcement efforts

"Long-delayed Jan. 6 plaque honoring police installed in Capitol at 4 AM"

"The police officers were taunted and beaten. Some were knocked unconscious and dragged down stone steps, tear gas stinging their throats, to chants of “U.S.A! U.S.A!” on Jan. 6, 2021, as hundreds, then thousands, swarmed the citadel of American democracy.

Now, more than five years later, and three years since Congress ignored its own deadline to install it, a memorial plaque recognizing the service of law enforcement that day is finally on display in the very building they defended from a mob of President Donald Trump’s supporters intent on overturning his 2020 election loss.

In the predawn hours Saturday, around 4 a.m., staff with the Architect of the Capitol bolted the bronze plaque to a granite wall near an entrance on the west front, close to where the armed crowd had amassed and scaled scaffolding set up for the inauguration. They wheeled the plaque, stored in plywood, across the stone basement floor and guided it through the double doors. They raised the tribute with a jack table and began fixing it in place, the clang of their tools ringing out through otherwise empty hallways."
