Trunk or Treat scheduled for Oct 23 by Franklin Lions Club at FHS

The Franklin Lions Club has scheduled their "Trunk or Treat" for Oct 23 at Franklin High School. Details on how to participate are shown below and in the flyer attached:
  • Dress up in your Favorite Costume.
  • Enter Franklin High School through Panther Way.
  • Follow the signs and stop at each display for a Treat. 
  • Please stay in your vehicle. 
  • Monetary Donations Accepted. 100% will go to Food Pantry

We invite you to our first School-wide Diwali Celebration - Oct 15

The BFCCPS English Learner Parent Advisory Council (ELPAC), the Franklin Cultural Council, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council are excited to sponsor our school’s first Diwali Celebration on Saturday, October 15

Our goal is to celebrate together and educate our community about Diwali.  The event takes place October 15 from 11 AM to 1 PM.  The ELPAC has been hard at work planning a number of activities for the community including Decorating Diyas, Mehndi, Rangolis, Coloring Mandalas, How to wear a sari booth, Photo booth, Storytelling

The team has also coordinated a range of performances including songs, Tabla (drumming), Ramp Walk featuring students wearing clothing from the different states of India, Bollywood, and Classical dances.

“This program is supported in part by a grant from the Franklin Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.”

FHS golf, field hockey, girls soccer, and volleyball teams all posted wins on Tuesday

Girls Soccer = Franklin, 2 @ Newton South, 0 – Final 
– Franklin scored once in each half to earn a massive road win against a fellow Div. 1 title contender. Olivia Costa opened the scoring in the first half, finishing a feed from Tori Carmignani. Kelly O’Connor scored from a Katie Ewald corner in the second half to secure the points in a hard-fought, physical matchup. Rachel Welch made eight saves for Franklin. Newton South came into Tuesday’s game as the third-ranked team in D1.
Great 2-0 Win against a strong Newton South team‼️G2 goes to Bridget for great control of the game. Not done yet!! Two more games this week against two strong teams. 

Field Hockey = Franklin, 13 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final 
– Franklin’s Kaitlyn Carney recorded a hat trick and both Shaw Downing and Haley Wernig scored a pair of goals in a big win on the road.
Good TEAM win today vs Stoughton… Scoring: Kaitlyn trick, Haley 2G 1A, Shaw 2G, Sophia 1G 2A, Sydney 1G, Brooke 1G 1A, Kaeley 1G 1A, Emily 1G 1A,Ella A 1G, Lindsay 1A.. Devon, Megan, Chloe combined for the Shut Out!

Boys Cross Country = Franklin @ North Attleboro, 3:45

Girls Cross Country = Franklin, 18 @ North Attleboro, 45 – Final 
– Franklin’s Alex Batla and Fiona Morrison took the top two spots and rounded out its scoring with five of the top six runners to clinch the Kelley-Rex division title. Batla won in 20:45 with Morrison crossing at 20:46. Vivienne Loukota, Katie Sweeney, and Carli Walbert took fourth, fifth, and sixth overall, respectively, to give the Panthers the win.
Congrats to the Girls XC Team who beat NA 18-45. They finished the Season 5-0 and captured the Kelley-Rex Title. A Batla won the race closely followed by F Morrison. Franklin’s other scorers included V Loukota, K Sweeney and C Walbert. J Bond won the JV Race.

Golf = Taunton, 175 @ Franklin, 150 – Final 
– Franklin won its final division match of the season to finish tied in first, clinching a share of the Kelley-Rex division crown along with King Philip. Jack Hagerty had a pair of birdies and finished with a medalist round of 36 to lead the Panthers. Matt Cacciapaglia (two birdies), Brendan Collins (one birdie), and CJ Steel (one birdie) each came in with a 38 for Franklin. Logan Letourneau led the way for Taunton with a 41.
Panthers close regular season with win against Taunton to capture share of the Kelly Rex title. Jack Hagerty shot a 36 while senior Matt Cacciapaglia carded with a 38 along with CJ Steel & Brendan Collins. Franklin finishes 12-3 and now advances to State Sectionals next Monday.

FPAC to present The Sound of Music Starring Broadway’s Sara Jean Ford

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will present The Sound of Music at THE BLACK BOX in Franklin, MA October 14-23.

Broadway’s Sara Jean Ford stars as Maria Rainer. Ford is best known for starring as Chris􏰀tine Daaé on Broadway and in the National Tour of the world- wide sensation The Phantom of the Opera. Also on Broadway she’s been seen in CATS (Jellylorum), How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Smi􏰁tty), A Li􏰁ttle Night Music (Mrs Anderssen, Anne/Petra cover), and Finian's Rainbow (Arlene, Sharon cover). Off-Broadway she starred in The Fantas􏰀ticks (Luisa, Revival Cast Recording) and appeared in Broadway in Chicago’s WICKED (Glinda/Nessa Rose cover). Ford has previously brought her solo show to THE BLACK BOX and has headlined the FPAC Gala and Broadway Weekend. She is on the Broadway Faculty for Voice and Acting at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts.

Ford stars opposite FPAC favorite Nick Paone as Captain von Trapp. The cast also features Tyrick Wiltez Jones (Broadway’s Hairspray, Finian’s Rainbow) as Max, NYC’s Jillian Paige as Elsa, and opera singer Shauna Martin as Mother Abbess. 

FPAC’s production is directed by Artistic Director Raye Lynn Mercer and features music direction by Hallie Wetzell and choreography by Christopher Rice-Thomson (Broadway’s Book of Mormon, Pretty Woman, Hamilton on tour). 

The von Trapp family will be played by FPAC Apprentices Tatiana McAlpine (Liesl), Mason Sanford (Friedrich), Finley Doherty (Louisa), Julian DiChiara (Kurt), Aida DiChiara (Brigitta), Colette Lelievre (Marta), and Catherine Cornwell (Gretl) with John Fitzhenry as Rolf Gruber.

The Sound of Music runs October 14-23 at THE BLACK BOX. The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "My Favorite Things," "Do Re Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulant who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

FHS boys soccer tops Xaverian 3-0 on Monday

Boys Soccer = Franklin, 3 vs. Xaverian, 0 – Final 
– After a scoreless 40 minutes, Franklin dominated the second half to the tune of three goals and earned a season sweep of the Hawks. Andrew O’Neill opened the scoring less than three minutes into the second half off of a feed from Trey Lovell, and then just three minutes later Noah Cain doubled the lead on an unassisted strike. With just over 10 minutes to play, sophomore Garrett Scagliarini set up classmate Vignan Kamarthi to make it 3-0.
