47th Annual Franklin Newcomers Craft Fair is scheduled for Nov. 5, 2022

The 47th Annual Franklin Newcomers & Friends Craft Fair is set for Sat. November 5, 2022 from 9 AM to 3 PM.

It will still be held at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School, 147 Pond St., Franklin, after taking a break following two years of COVID.

This year, the craft fair will be held at the school’s gymnasium. Plenty of space for mingling, browsing, and shopping. Enter at the left of the building instead of the front doors. Lots of parking right in front of the entrance.

This popular and well-established event features hand-crafted items from artists throughout New England. You’ll find a wonderful selection of items to give yourself or to recognize a birthday, holiday or any other special occasion.

Here’s a sample of what you can buy: home décor and housewares, jewelry,  paper crafts, pets, wood crafts, glass crafts, handbags, health and wellness products, food, holiday, art and photography, bath and body, adult and children’s clothing and accessories.

The club is accepting donations for the Franklin Food Pantry. The entry fee is $3 for people 12 years of age and older.

– Franklin got its second clean sheet in as many days, holding on for a win that moves the Panthers one point ahead of KP in the league title race ahead of Friday’s showdown. Lauren Mitchell and Emma Tremblay both played well in the Stoughton defense, helping keep Franklin to one goal. Katrina Varnum made 11 saves for the Black Knights.

Boston Globe: "A new master plan could help transform Boston Common into a ‘better version’ of itself"

When I worked in Boston, visiting the Boston Common or the Public Garden was something to do as a break during the workday on good weather. A new "Master Plan" has just been revealed to bring about some improvements to the space on the Common. 

All this to lead to holding a place for Franklin's Open Space plan and Mast Plan which both are supposed to begin an update process next year. There will be public meetings, survey's, etc. to craft our own Master Plan for what Franklin should be like in the future. Stay tuned. This will be an important effort to participate in and/or at least be aware of.

"The popular playground on Boston Common, which draws children from across the city and beyond, would nearly triple in size. A revamp of the equally popular Frog Pond would include multiple fountains, while a soccer pitch would be added to the athletic fields. More restrooms, everywhere. And, a place to get a beer or glass of wine.

Those are just a few of the big changes that could be coming over the next decade to the nation’s oldest public park, according to a new master plan for the Common that was released by the city and Friends of the Public Garden on Wednesday.

The grand reimagining calls for both ambitious new projects and more subtle improvements, with a goal of making the Common even more inviting and navigable. So, dog owners would have an enclosed park to let their pets run free. The Parkman Bandstand would have a ramp for people with disabilities. And the athletic fields would welcome soccer and basketball players for the first time."

MA Governor candidates Healey and Diehl square off in first debate

"Democrat Maura Healey and Republican Geoff Diehl tangled in their first televised debate on Wednesday, parrying over Donald Trump, abortion rights, and who voters should trust most as governor to help lower costs and taxes across the state.

Healey and Diehl traded barbs throughout the hour-long forum, which served as a contrast in visions of the issues most pressing for voters. The attorney general repeatedly painted Diehl as wildly out of step with the Massachusetts electorate, while Diehl cast the front-runner as a threat to the pocketbooks of residents.

Healey, a South End Democrat, fashioned herself as intensely focused on addressing affordability, promising she is “going to cut taxes” and throwing support behind a tax relief package that Governor Charlie Baker, the Republican incumbent, had pushed since January."

We're excited to share with you what we're working on. MassDOT will be holding a Virtual Public Meeting for Beyond Mobility next Thursday, October 20th at 6:00 PM. 

At this meeting, the Beyond Mobility team will introduce the project and provide summary results from our first public survey which reflects on visions for the future of the transportation network in the Commonwealth. There will also be opportunities for participants to ask questions about the plan following the presentation.
