"Officials from the town's facilities department fielded concerns from the Town Council about the maintenance of town buildings at a recent meeting.
Department members came to the last week's council meeting to give a presentation about the work they do, including information on the recent move of the library to a temporary location.
Council members, though, said they wanted additional information about needed repairs to town buildings and the length of time it takes to complete them.
"One of the things the council has asked for in the past is a report that tells us how many work orders... are out there, and how long they take to complete," said Councilor Thomas Mercer."

"Exelon’s proposed 200-megawatt expansion of the power generation company’s existing Summer Street facility is not expected to cause any traffic impacts, engineers said at the Planning and Economic Development Board’s Tuesday meeting.
Bob Michaud of MDM Transportation Consultants, a firm hired by Exelon, said the site will produce a less than a one-percent increase over existing traffic volumes during peak commuter hours.
Exelon’s proposal to use fuel oil as a backup to natural gas – the primary fuel source - will result in a maximum of five vehicle trips over an hour, Michaud said."

The replacement sewer force main project on East Central Street is in full swing! This project is using a technology called Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) to install a replacement sewer main. The old main was installed around 1940 and is undersized and in poor condition, and therefore needs to be replaced. By using HDD we save the Town the headache and costs associated with digging up East Central Street and get a new larger sewer line! Please be patient with temporary traffic delays, and remember it could be a lot worse if we had used the traditional method of pipe installation!Yes, the equipment to do this drilling is what is located next to Franklin Liquors

After closing on April 11, the Franklin Public Library re-opened at a temporary location Monday morning.
That location - at 25 Kenwood Circle - will serve as the library's home while a yearlong, $10.5 million renovation takes place in its main building.
About 55,000 items from the library's collection were moved to the new address, said Library Director Felicia Oti. Among them were the entire children's collection, all young adult books, DVDs, CDs, Blu-Rays and audiobooks.

The Crowdsourcing Citizen Science to Protect Bees free program will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, 108 North St., Norfolk.
The health and diversity of native bumblebees, which pollinate New England crops and flowers, will be the topic of a program.
The speaker, Robert Gegear, of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, studies how bumblebees react to challenges in their habitat and how citizens can play a role in conservation and restoration of pollinators.
Voters will decide on June 9 whether to adopt a three-year moratorium on artificial turf fields that use crumb rubber infill due to a resident petition that gathered enough signatures to call a Special Town Meeting.
The date was set at the Board of Selectmen’s Monday meeting after a length conversation about the timing of the petition – just as town officials have started planning the improvement of several parks and recreational areas in town.
