Franklin TV: Our Open Board Meeting - It’s Happening; August 17 at Our Studio

This year our Annual Open Board Meeting will take place as part of a neighborhood block party at our 23 Hutchinson St. studios.
Join us, Saturday, August 17 at 3:00 PM. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by August 9 to: info@franklin.tv
It’s open to all Franklin businesses and residents. We’ll meet-and-greet and enjoy the day starting at 3:00 PM. Come hungry and enjoy some great food and music. You can also tour our studios and learn about Franklin●TV and wfpr●fm. We’ll also review the past year’s progress and plans for the future. At our meeting you may cast a vote for new and/or renewing board positions.

Section 15. Election of Director by the Membership 
(a) Members shall be notified by the Clerk of the election of a director by the Membership at the Annual Meeting. Said notice shall be in accordance with the notice provisions of Section 4 of this Article IV. 
(b) Any eligible voting Member may be nominated for election to the position of Director by: 
(i) Written notification to the Clerk no later than seven (7) days prior to Annual Meeting; or (ii) By nomination from the floor of the Annual Meeting made and seconded by no less than three (3) eligible voting members.

Globe All-scholastic for spring 2024 recognize: FHS' Corvi, Deforge, Dumas, Shaughnessy & Travato

In the Boston Globe All-Scholastics announced in today's edition of the newspaper, Franklin High School has several athletes and one coach recognized.

Baseball - Honorable Mention
  • Jake Shaughnessy, senior, Franklin

Boys Lacrosse - Honorable Mention
  • Matt Corvi, senior, Franklin

Girls Outdoor Track - All-scholastic
  • Lily Deforge - FRANKLIN | SENIOR
Also an indoor All-Scholastic, the senior won discus (133 feet, 9 inches) and was third in shot put (41-3) to help Franklin to its first-ever Div. 1 state title. At the Meet of Champions, she was second in discus (123-4).

Girls Outdoor Track - All-scholastic
  • Sarah Dumas - FRANKLIN | SENIOR
The Penn-bound senior led Franklin to the Div. 1 state title behind wins in the 400 hurdles (1:03.16), 100 hurdles (14.27), and pentathlon (2,716). At New Balance Nationals, she was third in the heptathlon (4.825) in a personal best.

Girls Outdoor Track - Coach of Year 
  • Paul Trovato - DIVISION 1: FRANKLIN
Trovato, who has coached Franklin since 1984, led the Panthers to the program’s first-ever Div. 1 state title behind a group of talented seniors. An MSTCA Coaches Hall of Fame inductee in 2009, Trovato has complied an 188-82 career record.

The Franklin MA Lions Club will be holding an event on the Franklin Town Common to showcase our canine companions, DOGS!

We want to highlight all the ways they help us and how we can help them.

6th Annual Cornhole Tournament - August 18

On August 18, 2024, the public is invited to join the Franklin Odd Fellows for an afternoon of fun and good cheer starting at 1 PM at the Bellingham Sportsman Club at 360 Lake St., Bellingham, MA 02019.  

This will be a fundraiser event with profits going to the Massachusetts Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.  

Teams will consist of two players each with a registration cost of $25 per player.  Team pre-registration is encouraged, but not necessary to be able to participate as cash payment will be collected at the door.  

Tournament formatting will be round robin play to establish seeding for a double elimination tournament.  Last year’s event went well, but we’re looking for more teams this year.  Get your teams together and register today!  

The Sportsman Club is an outdoor venue with an indoor lounge, cash bar and TV.  The Odd Fellows will provide a buffet lunch and a cash payout to the winning team/teams. Many thanks to the Sportsman Club for use of their facility for this event.
