Why do prices feel high if inflation is down?

Inflation is down, but three in four Americans are still concerned about coming price increases.

Inflation has eased since a 2022 peak, but an estimated three-quarters of American adults are still concerned about coming price increases. While the inflation rate has dropped to 2.9% as of December 2024, Americans are feeling the lasting impact of a historic spike.

How is inflation trending?

After rising to a 40-year high of 9.1% in June 2022, the inflation rate trended down for much of 2023 and 2024, falling to a low of 2.4% in September 2024 before ticking up over the next few months.

The declining inflation rate means prices have been rising at a more gradual pace, and this can in turn mean less stress on consumers.

FHS boys basketball streak ends with loss to Xaverian on Tuesday

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Tuesday, February 18, 2025

Boys Basketball = Franklin, 38 vs. Xaverian, 40 – Final
– Xaverian overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half to stun Franklin, handing the Panthers their first loss of the season. Points were hard to come by for both teams but Franklin was able to turn a slight halftime lead (17-16) into as much as 11 in the third before going into the fourth up seven (35-28). A mix of uncharacteristic turnovers and Xaverian’s zone defense — a mix of 2-3 and 1-3-1 — limited Franklin to just three points in the fourth quarter, all from the free throw line. Senior Caden Sullivan paced the Panthers with 14 points.
