The triumphant return of the Franklin Rod & Gun Club's all-you-can-eat breakfast is Sunday, October 18

"Guess who's back? Back again. Breakfast is back. Tell a friend!
The triumphant return of the Franklin Rod & Gun Club's all-you-can-eat breakfast is Sunday, October 18

That's right, it's the triumphant return of the Franklin Rod & Gun Club's all-you-can-eat $10 breakfast ($5 for kids 12 & younger).

After 2 months of work, the updates to our hall are finished and now you can check out the new room while enjoying the same eggs, sausage, pancakes, home fries, French Toast, corned beef hash, baked beans, and coffee you know and love.
The price is still just ten bucks ($5 for kids) and this is open to the public (cash only).

So come down to 53 Florence St. in Franklin on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 7:30-11 am for the best (and most affordable) breakfast in town.

Also, tell us what you think of our renovations!"

Senator Rausch schedules Kingsbury Pond meeting for Nov 19, 7 PM (location TBD)

via Senator Becca Rausch:

Senator Rausch schedules Kingsbury Pond meeting for Nov 19, 7 PM (location TBD)
"Last week I was asked to host a community meeting in November about Kingsbury Pond and the status of efforts to find sustainable solutions. I agreed and immediately got to work to find an agreeable date. I was successful: the meeting will be on Thursday, November 19, at 7:00 PM, and will include the state representatives for both towns, the town administrators from both towns, and representation from both the Norfolk Select Board and the Franklin Town Council.

My team and I are still finalizing a suitable location.

As the Senator for both Norfolk and Franklin, as well as the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, I have had many conversations with state and local leadership and constituents of both towns about Kingsbury Pond. My involvement and attention to this matter has helped move forward the ongoing process with the Department of Environmental Protection.

Once confirmed, we will post the meeting location along with a registration link.

Thank you to my many partners in state and local government who have been meaningfully engaged on this matter."

Gov Healey expands heating assistance for working & middle class families

* 1 *

"Cold weather shouldn't mean choosing between heating your home and paying for other essentials.

Massachusetts residents can apply for heating assistance through HEAP right now.

And with heating costs rising, Governor Healey is expanding assistance to help more families, including middle-income households that heat with oil.

Learn about available programs and eligibility at Mass.gov/HeatingHelp"

* 2 *

Applications are now open for the Massachusetts Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).

The federal government has announced the release of Fiscal Year 2027 funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, including $142.3 million for Massachusetts, as part of a nationwide allocation to help low-income households afford home heating and cooling costs. The program prioritizes households with high energy burdens, as well as seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families with young children.

Celebrating Voting Rights – A Family Friendly Festival - Saturday, October 17

Coinciding with the first day of Early Voting in Massachusetts, two Franklin based organizations are co-hosting an informative and fun event on the town common featuring music, singing, games, refreshments, and stories. Halloween Costumes welcome!
Celebrating Voting Rights – A Family Friendly Festival - Saturday, October 17

Our major goal is to get people to vote in the upcoming mid-term election. This is traditionally an election time where people tend to discount and not bother to vote. We want to get people enthused about voting and to recognize that their vote does matter. To that end we will have stations set up that will help new voters register to vote, and registered voters to double check that they are listed as active and that their names and addresses” are correct.

Activities geared toward children will include a walk-through story board set about voting; mock voting booths and ballot; lawn games; a coloring station; and a temporary tattoo station with patriotic and Halloween tats, and a button making station. Adults are welcome as well.

Walking through the grounds visitors will be able to view large posters of the official ballot for Franklin and surrounding towns along with the ballot questions. There will also be Displays relative to the history of our democracy and of voting rights.

Appearing on the Gazebo Stage will be local music legend Dave Herlihy performing his newest release “Good Trouble;” sing-along enthusiast Janet Water leading us with new songs and old favorites; and a small array of speakers with messages from the Past, Present & Future.

Keep your eyes peeled for the appearance of various historic characters. There are rumors that Abe Lincoln, Ben, Franklin, Susan B Anthony, and a few Suffragettes may be visiting then.

For a break head over to the Chill Zone’s ice cream truck and get yourself a dairy treat, pastry, soft drink, or even a pup cup for your four-legged friend.

Host booths will have information on their upcoming activities along with opportunities for you to help Get Out the Vote!

Don your costume, grab a few companions of any age, and head to the Franklin Town Common Saturday October 17th from Noon to 2 PM for entertainment and information!

Hosted by Committee to Protect Our Democracy  & Franklin Democratic Town Committee

Were you part of a Franklin High School state championship team? Are you the proud parent or family member of a Panther champion? We’re asking you to help preserve Franklin’s history!

You can help with Fund raising underway for a Student Achievement Sign on Panther Way
A committee of Franklin parents and school officials is raising funds for a permanent 15-foot Student Achievement Sign on Panther Way to celebrate our community’s tradition of excellence.

The sign will recognize the 12 Franklin High School Division I state championship teams dating back to 1982, with space to honor future state titles in athletics, performing arts and academic competitions.

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› This is a community-funded capital campaign, led by parents and booster organizations, with 100% of project funds being raised through community support—not the school budget.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Our Fundraising Progress
Goal: $55,000
Raised: $32,900 (Thanks to The Fletcher Fund, FHS Booster Organizations, and parents)
Remaining: $22,100

๐Ÿ† Calling all championship alumni and families! You helped make Franklin history. Please consider contributing to ensure these achievements are recognized for generations of Panthers to come.

๐Ÿข Calling local businesses! We’re seeking 8–10 Community Partners to support this initiative. Partners will receive a list of sponsorship benefits, be recognized at our spring ribbon-cutting ceremony, and have their company names permanently displayed on the sign.

Every contribution makes a difference! All individual and corporate donors contributing more than $500 will also be recognized on the permanent signage.

Please consider donating and sharing this post with former teammates, championship families, local businesses, and friends who love Franklin!

Thank you for helping us honor our past champions, celebrate today’s students, and inspire the Panthers who will make history tomorrow!

Once a Panther, always a Panther! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Please help us bring this sign to life with a donation to celebrate our students' achievements!

FHS girls and boys soccer team top Stoughton on Wednesday

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Fall sports competition for Franklin High School on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Girls soccer = Franklin, 4 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final
– Franklin scored three unanswered goals to secure a road win and continue its unbeaten run through league play. Hailey Leblanc opened the scoring for the Panthers, assisted by Phoebe Cuneo. After the Black Knights tied the match, Claire Michel added a brace before halftime, both assisted by Bethany Rappa, to give the Panthers a cushion going into the break. Lily Strong added an unassisted goal in the second half to put the game away.

Boys soccer = Stoughton, 2 @ Franklin, 4 – Final
– "A pair of second-half goals from junior Cam Lambert helped Franklin pull away from Stoughton for a Senior Night win Wednesday in an important Kelley-Rex Division clash.

The Panthers grabbed the first lead, fell behind 2-1, and then scored three unanswered goals to earn a 4-2 win.

“Playing for the seniors tonight, myself, all three captains [Deacon Eglintine, Will McAuley and Zach O’Mahony-O’Sullivan], all the seniors, it’s good to get those guys who don’t normally get as many minutes — especially the seniors — on the field,” senior Deacon Eglintine, a defenseman, said. “Give them that extra time that they deserve, so it was big for all of us to pull one out today.”

Town of Franklin 2025 Master Plan: Key Issues and Opportunities - Part 8 of 8 - Sustainability

Town of Franklin 2025 Master Plan: Key Issues and Opportunities - Part 8 of 8 - Sustainability
Sustainability

ISSUES

Climate Change

The effects of climate present serious challenges to the Town of Franklin, prompting the need for policies and programs to improve the resiliency of our community. The Commonwealth has recognized these impacts and has adopted a goal to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Current practices in the community continue to contribute to increasing greenhouse gas emissions, such as auto-oriented development and the widespread use of fossil fuels in the town’s facilities and vehicles. Fortunately, the causes of climate change are well documented, and our community can take immediate actions to mitigate the effects in the Town of Franklin.

OPPORTUNITIES

Improving Resiliency to Climate Change

We should work towards implementing the Town’s Green Community Designation goals and secure additional funding for sustainable programming, education, and infrastructure development. This will help maintain the designation and strive to make Franklin a Climate Leader.

We can access resources to assist in converting buildings, vehicles and equipment to more sustainable operations, aiming for efficiency, reduced emissions, and lower costs. To support these efforts, the Town of Franklin should prioritize the procurement of clean, renewable energy resources in New England.

Massachusetts continues to prioritize the Municipal Vulnerability Program (MVP), offering resources to implement the actions identified in the joint Bellingham and Franklin MVP program and the Town’s 2020 Hazard Mitigation Plan, while also improving resiliency to climate change.

We should collaborate with local farmers to establish a connection between local food production and the Town, increasing public engagement in local food culture and production. Partnering with local farmers and experts to incorporate permaculture techniques into Town’s design standards is also key.
By implementing additional stormwater management and MS4 practices, Franklin can qualify for more funding opportunities while protecting the Town’s water supply.

We also need to improve efforts to more effectively engage the public regarding practices and resources available to more efficiently manage water issues, excess waste and climate change could be improved.

2026 Local Vibe Music Awards Celebrates the Best of Local Music in Milford

2026 Local Vibe Music Awards Celebrates the Best of Local Music in Milford
Local music took center stage on Sunday, October 4th, as Raydio hosted the 2026 Local Vibe Music Awards at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Milford, bringing together musicians, bands, venues, music fans, and supporters for an afternoon dedicated to celebrating the area's vibrant local music scene.

The free event, open to the public, featured 25 awards and 10 live musical performances, recognizing the incredible talent, dedication, and passion that keep local music alive and thriving throughout the region.

The afternoon featured performances by Captain and the Stubings, Driftwood, Roadhouse Strangers, Coffeehouse Squirrels, Fourth Year, The Bitter Hearts, Dan Rice, Box Groove, The Pub Kings, and Project Alice.

What makes the Local Vibe Music Awards special is that the winners are chosen by the fans. Rather than relying on a panel of judges or industry professionals, the awards give local music supporters the opportunity to vote for their favorite bands, musicians, performers, venues, and others who contribute to the local music community.

Among the special honors presented was the inaugural Local Vibe Headliner Award, awarded to Project Alice. Tony Soul was recognized as a Local Legend, while other special recognition awards celebrated the fans and personalities who make the local music scene so special.

But beyond the trophies and performances, the afternoon was about something bigger: community.

"Local music is about so much more than what happens on stage," said Ray Auger, founder of Raydio and The Local Vibe. "It's about the musicians who put their hearts into every performance, the venues that give them a place to play, and the fans who show up week after week to support them. This event was our way of bringing everyone together and saying thank you. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate local music is exactly why we do this."

The event was made possible through the generosity of local businesses and sponsors who share Raydio's commitment to supporting the community. Their contributions helped make the celebration free and accessible to local music fans.

Special thanks also go to Franklin TV, which recorded the event for an upcoming presentation on its YouTube channel, and Tim Rice Photo, whose photography captured the performances, award presentations, and memorable moments throughout the afternoon. Photos from the event are already available.

The Local Vibe Music Awards are an extension of Raydio's ongoing commitment to showcasing local talent through Raydio's Local Vibe, a resource connecting audiences with live music, local performers, and venues throughout the region.

"These musicians are our friends, our neighbors, and the people who help make our communities special," added Auger. "They deserve to be recognized, celebrated, and supported. If this event inspires even a few more people to get out and see a local band, then we've accomplished something pretty special."

Raydio looks forward to continuing its support of the local music community and building on the success of this year's celebration.
