"Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School recently presented Cory’s Cause to the senior class.
Cory Palazzi, of Taunton, is permanently disabled after suffering a brain injury caused by a heroin overdose which resulted after first becoming addicted to prescription opioids from an athletic injury. Palazzi now struggles to walk and has to use a wheelchair at times. He is legally blind, his speech is slow and he has trouble controlling certain muscles which makes him unable to do simple everyday tasks without help.
The presentation was given to seniors as a part of the Positive Attitudes for Work Success program. PAWS prepares students for commitment to productive citizenship, gainful employment, personal responsibility and the setting of high standards of achievement in both vocational and academic courses. Seniors participate in a monthly seminar to address topics of concern in their transition from high school to college, career and/or military. All students are required to participate in the PAWS Program."

Party for a Cure - March 2

"Why I'm running for Dana Farber:

Sometimes in life, a “Thank You” doesn't seem enough to convey how much you appreciate and treasure what someone has done for you.

In July of 2014, my mom, Jeanne Burchard was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. We chose Dana Farber for her treatment because of their excellent reputation. At the time of her diagnosis we were told that she had 2-2-1/2 years to live. Thanks to the treatment of Dr. Sinclair and the amazing nurses, my mom is still with us, and doing great. Thank you Dr. Sinclair and Dana Farber!

Fast forward to May of 2016. I had noticed that I had numerous enlarged lymph nodes. After many tests, my doctor told me that I had stage 3 Follicular Lymphoma. This was the last thing I was expecting but I had this unwavering feeling that I would be ok. Once again, our family chose Dana Farber.

We knew from our previous experience that Dana Farber treats the whole person ... not just the cancer. During my treatment, my caring nurse, Mary Beth Proulx, would sit with me while I needed to cry or talk about feelings I didn't quite understand. This was my safe place where I could let my defenses down and truly show how scared, confused and angry I was. I wanted to be strong and keep everything as normal as possible for my husband and 2 girls, but sometimes I needed to be vulnerable. Mary Beth helped me do that. My Lymphoma is now in remission and I feel awesome! Thank you Dr. Tahir, Mary Beth and Dana Farber!

This past May, my mother in law, Kathy Luccini, was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Dana Farber and Dr. Sinclair, once again, were there for us. As Kathy began treatment, they treated her with respect by answering questions, involving her in treatment options and providing her with top-notch care. Kathy is doing great and back to playing golf! Thank you Dana Farber.

When I run, it's not only for my mom, Kathy and myself, but for all the people who have gone through this journey. This is one small way I can show my appreciation for the care and compassion we received.

On April 16, 2018, hundreds of Dana-Farber runners will take to the streets to participate in the 122nd Boston Marathon®. The DFMC team runs and raises funds with thousands of special people in mind. From Hopkinton to Boston, we carry thoughts of those people every step of the way.

Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer. It would mean the world to me if you would consider making a donation."

It is Register O'Donnell's goal to provide a convenient way for residents to learn more about how the Registry serves them as it conducts business closer to their homes, saving them time and money. "By releasing the spring schedule now it provides people with advance notice to put these dates on their calendars," noted the Register.

Although, Registry staff cannot provide legal advice, they will be on hand along with the Register, to answer basic questions, transport documents for recording and assist in the filling out of a Declaration of Homestead form that provides for limited protection against the forced sale of an individual's primary residence to satisfy unsecured debt up to $500,000. They will also assist a person in signing-up for the new Consumer Notification Program that alerts a homeowner when a transaction has been made against their property to alert them against potential cases of fraud.

Additionally, there will be on-site work stations that can provide real-time status of your mortgage discharge, print out a copy of your deed and provide a demonstration on how the Registry's On-Line Land Records Database works. No appointment is necessary.

Furthermore, Register O'Donnell is also available to speak to the membership of any of the professional or community organizations within Norfolk County. If interested, please call 781-461-6116 or email registerodonnell@norfolkdeeds.org.

"Award-winning Boston-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Patty Larkin returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse in Franklin on Saturday, March 3, at 8 p.m.
Larkin redefines the boundaries of folk-urban pop music with her inventive guitar wizardry and uncompromising vocals and lyrics. Rolling Stone praises her “evocative and sonic shading.”
Larkin’s new release “Still Green,” her 13th recording, plays out in Technicolor sound images, a kaleidoscope of sun and sea traveling from the fluorescent-lit hallways of grief to the warm pull of love, family and nature. Much of it written in a primitive dune shack on the outer banks of Cape Cod’s National Seashore, “Still Green” is a fresh approach to sound and life from a legendary songwriter who continues to amaze."

“I ended up here for a reason"

Josh Perry, Managing Editor of HockomockSports.com, provides a nice write up on former FHS basketball player Alicia Kutil.

"Five years ago, former Franklin High standout Alicia Kutil nearly stepped away from her dream of playing college basketball when she transferred from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. to UMass Amherst. In search of the right fit for her personally, Kutil’s basketball career was given a second chance by UMass Dartmouth, which had recruited her during her time at Franklin.
Just two weeks ago, Kutil, now a senior captain for the Corsairs, took a cross-court pass and fired up a three-pointer from the left wing in the final minute of a comfortable win against Little east Conference (LEC) rival Eastern Connecticut. With that three, Kutil became the all-time leading scorer in the program’s history.
Not every path to success is a straight line.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Kutil in a phone conversation the day before UMass Dartmouth faced Eastern Conn. in the LEC semifinal. “I’m still kind of in shock about. On senior night they talked about it before me and my family walked out and I think that’s when it hit me. It’s crazy! I really never thought in a million years that would be me.”
