Final Days - DCR is seeking Public Comments on plans for SNETT
Both FHS girls and boys soccer teams post wins on Monday
"Franklin knew that it needed to get a result in Monday afternoon’s visit from Sharon to Pisini Stadium to put pressure on Kelley-Rex rival King Philip in the league standings. Despite being unbeaten in the league (including two wins over the Warriors), Franklin came into the finale trailing by a point. At halftime, everything was going perfectly. Franklin recovered from Sharon’s fast start to lead 4-1 and, at least temporarily, moved back into first place. Then, over the span of six minutes in the second half, Sharon (6-7-3) came storming back to tie the match and stun the home fans and the home bench.Franklin (12-1-5) answered back almost directly from the restart, regaining the lead, and added two goals less than a minute apart to seal the win with eight minutes to play. It was a match with wild swings of emotion on both sides, but the Panthers came through it with a 7-4 victory. The teams scored 19 goals combined between the two matches this season.“I said to Becca, these two games have been the most ridiculous soccer games I’ve been a part of, ever,” Franklin coach Jodi Klein said afterwards. “Really nice goals from both teams but stop the ball, both of us, stop progression of the ball.”

"Asheville one month after Helene faces long recovery"
"One month after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on this corner of western North Carolina, the debris is everywhere.Shade trees are cut into pieces, sitting on lawns, while ruined flooring and sheetrock pile up next to roads.Bridges are cut in half, while homes, vehicles and appliances are strewn around, glued into riverbanks or resting in unexpected spots. The remains of a camper, several feet off the ground, are wedged into the railing of a city playground. A dirty blue sedan rests nearly upright, parked on a wooden fence. If you spend any time on social media, new images or videos with fresh stories of destruction pop up every few days."

PBS News reveals research that "social media is not an accurate reflection of society"
"Researchers at New York University have concluded that social media is not an accurate reflection of society, but more like a funhouse mirror distorted by a small but vocal minority of extreme outliers. It's a finding that has special resonance this election season. @johnyangtv spoke with @jayvanbavel to learn more
