Bellingham Branch of Citizens Bank among those slated to close

"Rhode Island-based Citizens Bank will close more than a dozen branches across the country, including six in New England, a move that it says is a strategic response to how customers engage with the lender.

Citizens Bank
Citizens Bank
One of the largest employers in Rhode Island, Citizens is encouraging those whose jobs will be affected to look for openings within the company. The bank did not specify how many positions will be impacted.

In Rhode Island, one branch will close, in the Rumford section of East Providence. Four branches will close in Massachusetts: in Belmont, Hyde Park, Bellingham and Burlington. Three of the four Mass. closures are in grocery stores — the Bellingham and Hyde Park branches at Stop & Shop markets, and the Belmont branch at Belmont Star Market. In New Hampshire, one branch will cease operations, in Nashua."

Exploring Susana Balbo Wines with Franklin Wine Club - Nov 17

Exploring Susana Balbo Wines, November 14 t 7 PM
Host: Pablo Tome

This Franklin Wine Club event is a sit-down wine tasting/educational event held in the Franklin Liquors wine room.

Susana Balbo is a family-run winery, focused on high-end wine production, located in Mendoza, Argentina, at the foothills of the Andes mountain range. It was founded in 1999 by Susana Balbo, Argentina's first female winemaker.

After ten years of sustained growth on international markets, another of Susana’s biggest dream came true when her children, José and Ana, decided to join her team and work side by side with her in order to continue to build up the family legacy. The new family generation and a team of over a hundred people work daily to deliver high-end wines with a methodic care for detail; thus seeking to make the wine industry grow in terms of investigation, innovation and sustainability. In essence, Susana Balbo’s large family share the same spirit and conviction: a great passion for making high quality wines.

Their winemaking team focuses on a work philosophy that combines a deep knowledge of Argentina’s best soils, an endless curiosity and passion for art and science behind winemaking abilities, and a strong commitment to sustainable practices.. These convictions led to the creation of four lines of wines: Nosotros, Susana Balbo Signature, Crios and BenMarco.

About Pablo:
Pablo Tome, is the Senior National Export Director of Susana Balbo . He is a native of Argentina living in Stamford Connecticut and is Passionate about all things Argentina. He is especially proud to represent the Iconic winemaking of Susana Balbo in the Untied States. Both FHS girls and boys soccer teams post wins on Monday

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Fall sports competition for Franklin High School on Monday, October 28, 2024

Boys Soccer = Franklin, 2 @ Sharon, 0 – Final
– Click here for a photo gallery of this game. – Franklin scored twice in the opening 15 minutes and that was enough for the Panthers to get the win on the road and clinch sole possession of the Kelley-Rex division title. The Panthers entered the game with a share already in hand but the Eagles had a chance to become co-champs with a win. Franklin used a pair of throw-ins to score both goals, starting with the opening tally in the 8th minute. Josh Rappa’s long throw was through a heap of bodies around the penalty spot and popped right to Jason Proenca for the finish from just outside the 6-yard box. Six minutes later, the Panthers had a second as Rappa’s throw was deflected to the far post and senior Aidan Klein crashed hard and touched it across the line.

Girls Soccer = Sharon, 4 @ Franklin, 7 – Final
"Franklin knew that it needed to get a result in Monday afternoon’s visit from Sharon to Pisini Stadium to put pressure on Kelley-Rex rival King Philip in the league standings. Despite being unbeaten in the league (including two wins over the Warriors), Franklin came into the finale trailing by a point.

At halftime, everything was going perfectly. Franklin recovered from Sharon’s fast start to lead 4-1 and, at least temporarily, moved back into first place. Then, over the span of six minutes in the second half, Sharon (6-7-3) came storming back to tie the match and stun the home fans and the home bench.

Franklin (12-1-5) answered back almost directly from the restart, regaining the lead, and added two goals less than a minute apart to seal the win with eight minutes to play. It was a match with wild swings of emotion on both sides, but the Panthers came through it with a 7-4 victory. The teams scored 19 goals combined between the two matches this season.

“I said to Becca, these two games have been the most ridiculous soccer games I’ve been a part of, ever,” Franklin coach Jodi Klein said afterwards. “Really nice goals from both teams but stop the ball, both of us, stop progression of the ball.”
