Boston Globe: "Massachusetts shifts gears: New Mass Save plan targets rental units for green upgrades"

"Now, a new, three-year plan from Mass Save is poised to change that. The state program is funded by ratepayers through a surcharge on their gas and electric bills, and every three years, it releases a new plan that governs how much it will spend and what kind of incentives it will offer. The latest iteration increases funding for energy efficiency by 25 percent, to $5 billion over three years.

The new Mass Save plan, which is under review by the state Department of Public Utilities and expected to be finalized early this year, includes incentives for owners of rental units in 21 so-called designated equity communities, which have high percentages of renters and low- and moderate-income residents. Those include Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and Fall River.

New rules would cover the entire costs of weatherization, such as adding insulation or sealing windows to keep in heat, instead of providing only partial reimbursements, as long as at least half the building is rental units. For those buildings, Mass Save will also address legacy issues including the presence of asbestos or knob-and-tube wiring."

FAA meeting to feature Shilpa Aduri

The Franklin Art Association's 2025 season will begin with our Wednesday, January 8 meeting, when our Guest Artist will be Shilpa Adduri, who will be giving a fine art, water-based media demonstration.

Shilpa Adduri works in the technique called “One Stroke”, which combines shading, blending and highlighting in a single brushstroke.  She is a Master Elite Director of this style, which is central to her teaching.  Her lessons are aimed at helping others to uncover their art potential, while fostering joy and connection. Her approach offers creativity and moments of tranquility. She offers lessons locally.

350 Mass Greater Franklin Node Meeting scheduled for January 2 at 7 PM

Hi all,

Our 350 Mass Greater Franklin node meeting will be held tomorrow (Thursday) night at 7 PM.

This will be both in-person and by Zoom, with the in-person meeting taking place at First Universalist Society in Franklin at 262 Chestnut Street at 7 PM. The purpose of the meeting will continue to be to review and discuss Monday's Statewide Campaign presentation to help guide us in determining our campaign focus for the foreseeable future.
350 Mass Greater Franklin Node
350 Mass Greater Franklin Node

With this additional time we would like all to view the YouTube video of the meeting in advance and take notes on questions and comments you come away with to input our group discussion at our meeting.  This will allow us to expedite viewing of the otherwise 2 hour long video in our meeting, allowing us to simply focus on those portions of greatest import. Here is
a link to the YouTube presentation.

We will share a screen in Zoom to show the YouTube presentation for everyone during our showing, allowing us to pause to discuss points.  Sometimes Zoom running a YouTube video can be a bit choppy. If it doesn't work for you, you can run the recording directly using the link we've provided.

If you can come but you'll be late, that's OK. We'd rather you come if you can. And while the meeting will be hybrid, both in-person and Zoom, it is preferable to be in person for a full-fledged discussion.

Meeting Zoom link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81930304274?pwd=Tm9VdGxYcDFaVTVDUkwyT3YvUnlFdz09
Meeting ID: 819 3030 4274    Passcode: 350ma
Dial-in +1 646 876 9923

We will hold our Holiday Party on our Thursday, January 16 meeting, at which time we will finalize our feedback to the Statewide Steering Team for their Wednesday, February 5, meeting to vote on statewide campaign(s).

We hope this works for you all.

Please join us Thursday 7 PM!

With gratitude,
Carolyn and Steve
