On Thursday evening, October 27, 2022, at Norwood’s Morrill Memorial Library, there will be a presentation by Norfolk Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell entitled “Norwood Notable Land Records: People, Places & Properties”. The program is a follow-up to a celebration held in June at the Norwood Town Hall commemorating Norwood’s 150th anniversary.
The “Norwood Notable Land Records: People, Places and Properties” storyboards will again be on display, highlighting Norwood’s rich history, its illustrious stories and the wonderful people that have made and make Norwood such a vibrant community. Documents recorded at the Norfolk Registry of Deeds connected to Norwood’s rich history and the notable stories and people behind them are the basis of a free booklet that will be available to those attending the event.
Norfolk Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell who is helping to organize the event explained, “The booklet tells a piece of the story of Norwood from its earliest days to the present. What has made Norwood such a great community are its people. The individuals highlighted in those records represent a cross-section of the community. Norwood is a special place and should be celebrated. I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Register O’Donnell and the Norwood 150th Steering Committee hopes you can join them for the presentation on Thursday, October 27 from6:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the Simoni Room at Morrill Memorial Library. The Town of Franklin is applying for an EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant Application for the Nu Style Jewelry Factory Site, at 21 Grove Street, Assessor Map 276 Lot 22 in Franklin, Massachusetts.
A public meeting to discuss the Cleanup Grant Application and to receive comments will be held on October 24, 2022 at 6:00PM remotely.

Friday, Sep 29, 2022, we cut the ribbon at new United Regional Chamber of Commerce member Attleboro Dental Group, 1174 South Washington Street, Suite 400, North Attleboro (across from the Emerald Square Mall in the 7 Mile Shops).
Dr. William Herr and Dr. Andrew Luccio welcomed the group and State Representative Adam Scanlon presented a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives from himself and Senator Paul Feeney. Feeney’s Chief of Staff Keith Drucker represented the senator at the event.

The meeting approved the minutes of the prior meeting via voice vote (8-0-1; 8 for, 0 against, 1 absent).
Town Administrator Jamie Hellen walked through the right of first refusal option on the Schmidt Farm property. After discussion and clarification questions, the Committee voted to recommend use of CPA funds for the purchase with an 8-0-1 vote (8 for, 0 against, 1 absent).
Jamie also provided some project updates on work underway (Red Brick School exterior renovation) and work being held (Nason St tot lot, Historical Msueum cupola).

Juniors and Senior Carpentry Students Build New Cabinet for North Attleboro Town Hall

The case is flanked by the American Flag and a POW/MIA Flag. It hangs above an empty memorial chair in honor of POW/MIAs. The project was worked on throughout the 2021-2022 school year and was built using solid wood and a glass sliding door purchased from local small business, Franklin Glass Company.
Pearl Harbor Display Case
Seniors Israel Pereira of Blackstone and Connor Bertram of Franklin built the cabinet between projects with the guidance of their teachers, Mark Spillane and Jeremy Barstow, and finished days before graduation.
Conner Jackson of North Attleboro, Sam Sepulveda of Medway, and Justin DeMarino of Plainville (Class of 2023) helped deliver the new case to the North Attleboro Town Hall, where it is installed in the lobby.
“It was an absolute pleasure working with the Tri County students. We were impressed with their enthusiasm and their pride in craftsmanship. We are pleased to have their work house an important piece of North Attleboro history prominently displayed in our Town Hall,” commented Antonio Morabito, Assistant Town Manager of North Attleboro.
