"ON A RECENT DAY, a Brockton customer looking for some marijuana could have bought one-eighth of an ounce of LA Kush Cake flower for just $20 at Commonwealth Alternative Care. Nearby, Legal Greens was advertising one-eighth of an ounce of Jet Fuel flower for $25, according to the marijuana marketing website Leafly.
The prices are way down from the $50 or $60 that a decent strain of marijuana was going for just two years ago. That’s good news for consumers tired of paying some of the highest prices for marijuana in the nation, but it’s bad news for the state’s legal marijuana industry. Just four years after cannabis shops opened, the price decline is destabilizing the industry and threatening to force companies out of business. Policy makers are being urged to consider radical action, including placing a moratorium on the granting of new cultivation licenses."

FM #914 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 914 in the series.
This session shares the Franklin, MA School Committee meeting held on Tuesday, Jan 10, 2023. The meeting was conducted in the Council Chambers with six members present (M Whitmore absent).
School Committee Chair Denise Spencer opens the meeting at 7:00 PM.
Key items on the agenda
Possible Student Trip to Greece preview - presentation and Q&A as a preview of a possible trip being planned for spring of 2024. EF TOurs would be the tour company, used previously successfully. Concerns about cost and equitable access of the trip for students. Could come back in future for formal approval if it indeed will be planned for
Special Education Presentation - an increase of 36 students in the program year over year while the overall population of students continues to decline. Key stat revealed that it costs approx 32K /student for in district special ed vs. approx 80K for out of district special ed placement. Hence a savings overall of 48K per student kept in the district.
Capital Budget proposal - approval ultimately after much discussion about the ‘reduction’ in the allocation from the Town to allow for only $80K, $400K for capital and another $80K for school facility capital projects. It is a town issue and other departments are seeing their capital needs list grow due to lack of funding.

Boys jump on the gas fast .43 seconds into the game Ben Paterson slides it to Dan Daley who spins it dot to dot to Anthony Lampasona who tucks it top right comer. At the 10:37 mark in the 1" Franklin's second goal would come when Dan Daley bumps it to a streaking Ben Paterson entering the zone who finds Anthony Lampasona who snipes it top left corner. 2 minutes later
James Donovan finds Ryan Sicchio flying down the right side of the ice as he enters the zone, he saucers one over the stick of the defenseman to Dylan McEvoy who dekes the goalie for the backhand goal. Franklin would strike gold one last time in the period with .43 seconds left Ben Paterson slides it to Anthony Lampasona who redirects it into the net for the dirty goal.
Defenseman Logan Marchand, Vinnie Pasquarosa, Aidan Kuykendall, and Liam O'Rielly would be in shutdown mode and kept Foxboro packed into their own D zone. Jack O'Connor gets the call in the pipes, has a great period, and serves up the donut. Franklin would finish the period up 4-0.
Boys would pickup the tempo where they left of Tommy Balducci, carter Balducci and Jack Wemig were causing havoc and getting a lot of chances. It wasn't till the 11:06 mark when Foxboro would attempt to clear the puck and on their bad line change Vinnie Pasquarosa would take it the length of the ice and snap one home. The rest of the period would render scoreless however not short of excitement. Patrick Daley, Zach Langevin and Mike Gates were all over the place presenting a ton of difficulties for Foxboro keeping them buried in their zone.
Carmine Iannuzzi contributed another huge PK standoff and did a great job keeping the puck deep in Foxboro's zone while Lucas Sheehan added several great shifts forcing turnovers and moving the puck up ice quickly. Jack O'Connor would serve up his second scoreless period of the night and looked strong. Franklin would finish the period up 5-0.
Once again, the boys come out strong just.28 seconds into the period Liam O'Rielly chips it to Ben Jarosz who finds Dylan McEvoy in the slot for the goal. As the period would ensue Sam Jette, Nick Weber, Rhys Greenwood, and Liam Hager would carry a heavy load of shifts presenting a bunch of opportunities and had Foxboro chasing. It wouldn't be till the 6:41 to go in the period when Ben Paterson sends a silky pass to Dan Daley for the backdoor goal and on the very next shift Anthony Lampasona and Dan Daley combine for the helper to return the favor to Ben Paterson who snipes it home. Jack O'Connor would close out a great game serving up the donut.
Franklin Final 8-0
