Information for Franklin Voters Regarding the Upcoming Election

Notice from the Office of the Town Clerk's Office regarding in person early voting, mail-in ballots, and election day.

The State Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 from 6am - 8pm at the Franklin High School Gymnasium. In person early voting will take place October 22nd - November 4th at the Franklin Municipal Building ONLY (355 East Central Street). There will be NO in person early voting at Franklin High School.

The Municipal Building in person early voting dates are as follows…

• Saturday, Oct. 22 in person: 9am -3pm
• Monday, Oct. 24 in person: 8am - 4pm
• Tuesday, Oct. 25 in person: 8am - 4pm
• Wednesday, Oct. 26 in person: 8am - 6pm
• Thursday, Oct. 27 in person: 8am - 4pm
• Friday, October 28 in person: 8am - 1pm
• Saturday, Oct. 29 in person: 9am - 5pm *Last day to register to vote*
• Monday, Oct. 31 in person: 8am - 4pm
• Tuesday, Nov. 1 in person: 8am - 4pm
• Wednesday, Nov. 2 in person: 8am - 6pm
• Thursday, Nov. 3 in person: 8am - 4pm
• Friday, Nov. 4 in person: 8am - 1pm

The last day to register to vote is Saturday, October 29th, 2022. You may check or update your information via the State's Online Voter Registration tool: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/

Ballots arrived at the Town Clerk's office on October 11th, 2022. Our staff is working diligently to ensure all voters that have already requested a mail-in ballot receive them in a timely manner.

Requesting a Mail-In Ballot

Voters may apply to receive a mail-in ballot by Tuesday, November 1st at 5pm the latest. Voters are encouraged to apply as early as possible for a mail-in ballot, especially if your ballot will need to be mailed out of town. The U.S. Postal Service recommends allowing up to 7 days for mail delivery. To ensure you receive your ballot with enough time to mail it back, you should apply 2-3 weeks before Election Day. Your application can only be accepted if it has reached your local election office by the deadline. You may apply to receive a mail-in ballot online here: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleabsentee/absidx.htm

Returning Your Ballot
Once you have received and completed your ballot, you may return it by…

• Mailing it back using the envelope provided; or
• Hand-delivering your ballot to the Town Clerk's Office in the Municipal Building during Early Voting hours or during regular business hours on November 7th (8am - 4pm) and before 8pm on November 8th, 2022; or
• Hand-delivering your ballot using our ballot drop box any time before 8pm on November 8th, 2022. Both ballot drop boxes are located at the Franklin Municipal Building.

FHS girls and boys soccer teams both top King Philip on Friday

Via HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the fall sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, October 14, 2022. We also provide the link to the full set of Hockomock League results below.

Boys Soccer = King Philip, 1 @ Franklin, 5 – Final 

– Franklin turned it up a notch in the second half and exploded for four goals after the break to take a big win on the road and stay two points clear in the Kelley-Rex division title race. Sophomore Garrett Scagliarini recorded his first assists to junior Michael Fernandez-Martin for the only goal of the opening half. After the break, Trey Lovell scored a pair of goals — the first assists by Max Tobin and the second by Scagliarini, while Fernandez-Martin grabbed an assist to Wyatt Herndon. Noah Cain (from Josh Dunlop) capped the scoring for the hosts.

Girls Soccer = Franklin, 2 @ King Philip, 1 – Final 

– KP had a strong first half but was unable to find a way through Franklin goalie Rachel Welch, who made a series of big saves. The Panthers were able to turn things around a little after the break and scored twice to split the season series and move three points clear of the Warriors in the division. Alli Powderly scored the opening goal for Franklin, finishing an assist from Selene Hammad. Anya Zub headed in a long free kick from Norah Anderson for what turned out to be the game-winner. KP pulled one back with five minutes to play. Mikayala Thompson scored off an assist from Rachel DeFlaminis.

LAST 2 WEEKS IN REVIEW OCTOBER 3 - OCTOBER 14 I'm your representative in Congress, and I write to keep you informed. On the Hill Energy Prices: Last weekend, I discussed rising energy prices and the need to transition to clean energy independence on Fox News. Instead of relying on oil from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Venezuela, we need domestic clean energy to provide energy security and a healthier planet for future generations. I also highlighted the bipartisan initiative I have led in Congress to support the G7's price cap on Russian oil, to reduce prices for American consumers and to deprive the Kremlin of hard currency for its illegal war. Further, I am keenly aware that our district is struggling with increased costs to heat our homes this winter, with some households facing as much as a $500 increase over last winter. To mitigate these high energy costs, I have continuously supported funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This program assists eligible low-income households with their heating energy costs and provides bill payment assistance. You can learn more about applying for LIHEAP assistance here. I am also supporting the release of home heating oil reserves in New England. Ukraine: Earlier this week, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling on countries not to recognize the four regions of Ukraine that Russia has claimed. The resolution also demands that Moscow reverse course on its "attempted illegal annexation". The resolution passed by a vote of 143 to 5, with 35 countries abstaining. This vote tally is a thunderous diplomatic win for Ukraine, the United States, and the free world. It also represents a searing defeat for Russia. The U.S. will continue to stand with Ukraine during a long, cold winter. We will stay with Ukraine as long as it takes.
