Respectfully, the Library and Senior Center calendars are too full of events to include all their events so we tend to focus on the major events. Town and School meetings are also kept separate. Links for all the calendars are shared here:

Fallen Hero Recognition: Jay Stone Davis - November 6, 2024 - 9 AM

Memorial event today (11/06/24) at 9 AM on the Town Common Veterans Walkway to honor Jay Stone Davis

This program will include the placing of a Memorial Wreath for the day, the playing of Taps, a salute from those present, and a reading of whatever history  may be available for that veteran.  This is a way of keeping the memory of that veteran alive.

** Jay Stone Davis PVT. U. S. Army, World War I
Jay Stone Davis was born in East Haven Connecticut in 1883. He was employed in Springfield as a tool maker. He made his home with his mother in Franklin, and she was employed at Dean Academy.

Jay Davis entered the service from Franklin on April 26, 1918 and was assigned three weeks later to Motor Corps 16, Machine Gun Training Center at Camp Hancock.

He went overseas in August of 2918 and less than two months later fell in the action at Skenay, France on this date, 1918.

At the time of his death, no Next of Kin could be found and thus no Purple Heart Award could be given.

Pvt. Davis rests in 'Honored Glory" in the Meuse - Argonne Cemetery in Romagne, France, Plot H, Row 15, Grave 2.

Congressman Auchincloss Statement on Re-election

Jake Auchinchloss for Congress

"I am honored to represent the District I grew up in, and I thank my constituents across the Massachusetts Fourth.

Next term, I intend to use my voice & vote to advance work that represents the values & priorities of our District:

  • Lowering the cost of living, particularly in healthcare & housing
  • Holding accountable the social media platforms that attention-frack our youth
  • Passing gun-safety measures that protect children from their leading cause of death
  • Interdicting fentanyl exports from China, which poison 100,000 Americans to death annually
  • Delivering infrastructure funding for the 35 cities & towns of the District
  • Protecting democracy from autocrats at home & abroad.
This term, I have led bipartisan legislation to rein in the Fortune 20 drug-pricing middlemen, known as Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), that price-gouge prescription drugs and bully independent pharmacists.
Next term, I will continue to drive legislation that lowers co-pays & premiums for prescription drugs and creates a level playing field against the self-dealing, greed, and malfeasance of PBMs.

This term, I have co-led bipartisan legislation to force TikTok's divestment from Chinese Communist control, while taking the lead on complementary bipartisan legislation to create a duty of care for all social media platforms relative to cyberbullying, defamation, intimate privacy violations, and other torts.
Next term, I will continue to fight back on behalf of parents against the ferocious lobbying of Big Tech to demand accountability of Meta, X, and more. These leviathans have profited by plundering the attention spans of our youth, impairing their sense of self & society.

This term, my political action committee, Beyond Thoughts & Prayers, has supported Democrats with more than $900,000 to win a gun-safety majority in Congress. J.D. Vance claims gun violence is a 'fact of life'. He's wrong: it's a fact of policy.
Next term, I'll fight against the GOP and the gun lobby to pass the policy that saves lives: background checks, safe-storage laws, an assault-weapons ban, red-flag requirements, resourcing for federal ghost-gun & crime-gun enforcement, and more.

This term, I have served as the co-chair of the Fentanyl Working Group, drafting bipartisan policy to interdict fentanyl exports from China through the Mexican drug cartels.
Next term, I will continue working in good faith with anybody – regardless of politics – to use sanctions, money-laundering, and customs authorities to stop the state-sponsored poisoning of Americans by the Chinese Communist Party.

This term, my office has delivered tens of millions of dollars in water and transportation funding to the 35 cities & towns of the Massachusetts Fourth. The funds have fixed bridges, cleaned water, and unlocked land for housing.
Next term, I will continue working closely with state & local officials to bring home federal dollars to fast-track infrastructure projects & economic development, particularly the construction of more housing, which is the Bay State's most pressing imperative.

This term, I have defended democracy wherever it's under attack. For Ukraine, against Russia. For Israel, against Iran. For the free world, against the Chinese Communist Party. And, of course: for Kamala Harris, against Donald Trump.
Next term, I will continue to make the case for freedom & democracy in a fractured media landscape, by taking tough questions in front of skeptical audiences to meet people where they are.

Thank you for the opportunity to represent you in the People's House.

FHS Boys soccer grabs wins in OT to advance to Final 8

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Fall sports competition for Franklin High School on Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Boys Soccer
Division 1 = #22 Franklin, 2 @ #11 Algonquin, 1 – Final (OT)
– Franklin senior Danny Reis picked the perfect time for his first career goal, smashing in the game-winner from in close as the Panthers upset #11 Algonquin on the road in overtime. The host Titans staked a 1-0 lead midway through the first and it stayed that way 10 minutes into the second half.

Franklin pulled level in the 51st minute when Matt Honekamp took a feed from Jason Proenca and quickly delivered a ball over the top of the defense. Senior Wyatt Herndon hustled to chase it down, getting around the last defender before poking it past the keeper to make it 1-1.

With just moments left in the first sudden victory overtime period, a throw from Josh Rappa was headed on by Garrett Scagliarini and after Herndon made a play for the ball, it skipped through the box to the far post where Reis came flying in and beat the keeper to it, burying the game winner.

#22 Franklin advances to play the winner of #6 Brockton and #27 Durfee, which is being played on Wednesday.

The 49th annual Craft Fair is set for Saturday, November 9 at Tri-County High School in Franklin.

The event runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We are again back in our original location in the lobby, hallways and cafeteria. Tri-County High School is located at 147 Pond Street.
49th Annual Franklin Newcomers and Friends Craft Fair - Nov 9
Craft Fair - Nov 9

This popular and well-established juried craft fair features hand-crafted items from artists throughout New England. You’ll find a great selection of items for your home, for gift-giving, specialty foods, and more.

The entry fee is $3 for people 12 years of age and older. The funds raised allow us to give back generously to the local community. We were able to donate $6,000 from funds raised at last year's Craft Fair to 10 different organizations. In addition, we also accept donations for the Franklin Food Pantry at the entrance to the Craft Fair.

If any High School students in our surrounding area are in need of community service hours, reach out to us for information. We need volunteers to assist crafters before and after the craft fair with the set up and take down of their booths. Email us at franklincraftfair@gmail.com.

For more info, find us on Facebook and Meetup for club information and activities: Franklin Newcomers & Friends Club.
