FM #1369 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 1369 in the series.

This session shares my conversation with School Committee Chairperson Dave Callaghan. This is a new episode of our continuing “Chalkboard Chat” series. We had our discussion in person at the Franklin TV & Radio Studio on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. We recapped the School Committee meeting of January 28, 2025.

We cover

  • Middle School Math Curriculum update

  • FY 2026 Superintendent’s Recommended budget & discussion

  • Redistricting is intertwined with both of the above topics

  • Encourage to participate in the Listening Sessions

The recording runs about 42 minutes, so let’s listen in. Audio link -> https://franklin-ma-matters.captivate.fm/episode/fm-1369-chalkboard-chat-01-29-25/

Voices of Franklin: Call to protect your financial data

Citizens of Franklin:  We are facing a crisis, and we need all Members of Congress to fight back. Join your friends and neighbors in telling Senators Warren & Markey as well as our Representative in Congress, Jake Auchincloss, that we demand they use every tool at their disposal to fight back against the takeover of our government and the federal funding freeze. They must act now to halt the process on the nomination of Russell Vought for OMB Director and use all levers at their disposal to fight the assault on our communities.

Elon Musk and his associates now have access to all U.S. citizens private and financial information, Social Security info, Tax Info, Addresses, Banking Info, etc.  He is dangerous and was not elected by any voter in this country.

Please protect yourself and your families.

Boston Globe: "Five things to know about Trump’s school choice executive order"
"5 things to know about Trump’s school choice executive order"
"President Trump last week signed an executive order to expand school choice.

The move has drawn praise from conservatives who have long-advocated for families to be able to use taxpayer dollars to support their children’s private or faith-based education.

Critics, meanwhile, see Trump’s order as an attempt to dismantle public education, trampling student rights in the process."

Franklin Art Association features Guest Demo-Artist, Erin Spencer - Feb 5

The Franklin Art Association invites the public to our Wednesday, February 5 meeting. We will warmly greet Guest Demo-Artist, Erin Spencer, our landscape, oil painter for this month’s public demonstration. She will be giving a step by step demonstration for a fine art painting.

Erin will discuss how to ‘simplify’ your approach. Like making a poem, in her approach she looks at painting as distilling visual information made into a unique interpretation; offering a new insight. The finished work tends toward realism mixed with tonalism.

The free-to-the-public-meetings are held at the Franklin Senior Center at 6:30 PM. FAA welcomes the public and it’s members to attend. Refreshments are served at the break. We have an on-going FAA Scholarship Fund that attendees are invited to contribute to.

The FAA is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Franklin Cultural Council, Franklin Cultural District and www.franklinart.org. And we can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram.
