FPAC to present The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will continue their exciting 2022-23 season with the stage adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time running November 18-20 at THE BLACK BOX.
15-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain: He is exceptional at mathematics but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched, and he distrusts strangers. Now, it is seven minutes after midnight, and Christopher stands beside his neighbor’s dead dog, Wellington, who has been speared with a garden fork. Finding himself under suspicion, Christopher is determined to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington, and he carefully records each fact of the crime. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a thrilling journey that upturns his world.
Winner of the 2015 Tony Award for Best Play, this adaptation by Simon Stephens of Mark Haddon’s popular novel will be directed for the FPAC stage by Nick Paone. A former Equity actor, Paone has performed with and directed for FPAC extensively, including starring roles in Sweeney Todd, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, Mary Poppins, and so many more. He is the creative mind behind and star of FPAC Holiday Productions favorite Humbug!. Paone has been on the drama faculty at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts and an actor and director at FPAC since 2001.

FHS volleyball "Falls To Barnstable In Five-Set Thriller" to end playoff run

Volleyball = Division 1 = #5 Barnstable, 3 @ #4 Franklin, 2 – Final

"Right until the end, Franklin refused to give up.Barnstable moved within a set of winning the Division 1 state quarterfinal with a dominating third set and had all of the momentum on their side with a 2-1 lead, and an early advantage in the fourth set.Instead, fourth-seeded Franklin erased a four-point deficit with a 5-1 burst to pull even at 12-12. They took their first lead of the fourth set right out of a timeout and never trailed the rest of the way, outscoring the visiting Red Hawks 18-6 to tie the match at 2-2 and force a deciding fifth set. Barnstable, the fifth seed, pulled away after the switch to secure the 3-2 win and advance to the Division 1 state semifinal.After splitting the first four sets, each winning in dominating fashion and each winning a close game, the fifth started exactly as one would predict between two of the best teams in the state."

Nope. It’s not about me. It’s about them. They made The List. I just wrote it down. I was asked to describe our volunteers and what they do. So – I made a list.
In terms of numbers…?
Start with 20 good and dedicated souls. Through their collective efforts, they produced, recorded, hosted, edited 450 radio programs last year, volunteering almost 1500 hours of their time to our cause – great public radio in Franklin. Each week they create radio programs about all things that matter to Franklin. They bring imagination, insight, wisdom to the issues of our place and time.
They bring life to our stated mission –
Amplify the Public Good.
Collectively, they shine a light on why Franklin is no typical New England town. Franklin has a warm, vibrant spirit that our radio community – our radio gang brings to the microphone every week. If you had the mic, what would you do? You could even make The List. Let’s discuss.

Register O’Donnell Announces Toys for Tots Drive
Believing that the true spirit of the holidays is based on giving, Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell announced today that the Registry will be sponsoring its 15th Annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive.
“The registry is proud to partner with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to help deliver a happy Christmas to children this holiday season,” said Register O’Donnell. “Also, we thank the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and all our Military personnel for their service.”

“This year, especially with inflation rates at record highs, the registry is reaching out to the Norfolk County community to give to the Toys for Tots drive,” said O’Donnell. “Because no family should have to struggle to give their child a gift this holiday season.”
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Toys for Tots. The program was established in 1947 when the wife of a Marine major wanted to donate a Raggedy Ann doll for Christmas, but couldn’t find an organization to accept it. Since then, the national program has delivered over 627 million toys.
Register O’Donnell noted, “Every holiday season, the Registry witnesses firsthand the many acts of kindness and Christmas spirit as numerous people drop off gifts for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive. It’s truly wonderful to see so many people drop off gifts, from Registry employees to title examiners to attorneys and from the general public,” noted Register O’Donnell.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program’s mission is to help less fortunate children experience the joy and happiness associated with Christmas. The program operates in more than 800 cities and towns throughout all 50 states.
“Since that time, this program has spread so much joy with the gifts that have been donated,” noted the Register.
Register O’Donnell concluded, "We all have the power to make a child’s Christmas something special, and therefore, giving to the Toys for Tots drive just might make it the best Christmas present you can give yourself this holiday season."

FHS Red Cross Club schedules movie night fund raiser - Nov 18
The Red Cross Club is hosting a movie night November 18th 5 to 7 PM in the cafeteria! (Note time change to avoid conflict with Cinderella)
Tickets are five dollars and will be sold at the door. All proceeds will be donated to Hurricane Ian Relief.
Snacks and beverages will be sold as well.

Franklin Garden Club to Sell Decorated Holiday Wreaths and Arrangements - Dec 3
The Franklin Garden Club will sell decorated holiday wreaths and cemetery arrangements on Saturday, December 3 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Daddario Hardware Store, 528 West Central Street, Franklin, MA.
In addition, holiday fresh floral arrangements will be sold on Instagram beginning December 17. The Franklin Garden Club Instagram handle is @franklingardenclubma. The sales will benefit several different club activities.
The real wreaths will be decorated in a variety of colors and styles and will include eye-catching bows and other ornamentation. Many will include a variety of greens, as will the cemetery boxes. All items will be reasonably priced from $25 - $40. The floral arrangements, created with fresh flowers and greens, will feature either holiday or winter themes and will be priced from $15 - $40.
Payment for the wreaths and centerpieces may be made through credit card, check, cash, or Venmo.
Club Co-Presidents Janice Cederquist and Mary Anne Dean stated, “We are very excited to offer area residents the opportunity to purchase beautiful holiday wreaths and arrangements created by members of the Franklin Garden Club. This will help those who may not have the time to decorate their own wreaths or make arrangements, while also assisting the Club."
All proceeds will benefit Garden Club activities, including the Club scholarship, pine tree seedling program for elementary school students, some of the Franklin Common and library plantings, and education programs open to the public.
