"The night before Monday’s Div. 1 quarterfinal against rival Franklin at Lombard Field, senior Alex Lutfy dreamed of coming to the plate with the game on the line and delivering the game-winning hit.In the bottom of the seventh inning, that dream came true.Catcher Leo Dowling singled to left with one out in the seventh. Courtesy runner Collin Hasenfus advanced to second on a Vinny Menendez bunt and took third on a wild pitch. Franklin reliever DJ Silverstein intentionally walked Drew Herlin and, after falling behind in the count, Aiden Astorino to load the bases.Lutfy walked to the plate with two of KP’s three hits in the game. He went with a pitch, driving it to deep left and just out of the reach of Franklin left fielder Owen Pennini. The ball bounced up against the fence for a game-winning, walk-off single that secured a 2-1 win (KP’s third one-run win against the Panthers this season) and a third Final Four appearance in the last four years."
