FHS field hockey, volleyball, & boys soccer (video) teams post wins on Thursday

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Fall sports competition for Franklin High School on Thursday, Sep 25, 2025

Boys Soccer = Attleboro, 0 @ Franklin, 1 – Final
– A goal just past the midway point of the first half proved to be the difference as Franklin stayed atop the Kelley-Rex division standings with a 1-0 win over visiting Attleboro. Junior Zach O’Mahoney O’Sullivan dropped a left-footed free kick right to the top of the six-yard box and classmate Deacon Eglintine leapt up and flicked in a header to put the Panthers ahead.

Girls Soccer = Franklin, 3 @ Attleboro, 5 – Final
- Attleboro rallied from two goals down in the final 13 minutes to secure dramatic win over Franklin on the night that the Bombardiers honor the Olivia Knighton Foundation. Franklin almost opened the scoring early in the match, but Kennedy Samuel marked her return after two games out by clearing the ball off the line. Late in the first half, the Panthers, who were playing their second game in as many nights, broke the deadlock with a back post header off a free kick. The visitors doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, but three minutes later Attleboro got on the board. Mia Cooper fed Jordyn Riley making a run down the right side of the box and she found the far post. Franklin added a spectacular third in the 63rd minute, as Morgan Lovell stole the ball, cut around an Attleboro defender, and picked the top corner. It seemed like the Panthers were on their way to an important division win, but Attleboro showed resiliency on an emotional evening. Tatum O’Brien got the Bombardiers back within one in the 67th minute and then Madison Dennehy got on the end of freshman Yvette Fontaine’s cross at the near post and flicked in the equalizer. Samuel, who played at both ends of the pitch for the Bombardiers, popped up with the winner by running onto a through ball from Riley. In the 76th minute, O’Brien scored a terrific solo goal, weaving through the Franklin defense, to put the Bombardiers up 5-3. Attleboro coach Steve Santos said, “We didn’t quit and we battled hard.” He praised the team’s defense, including Colie McGilvray, Sofia Sprovieri, Jamie Riley, Samuel, and goalie Ciara O’Driscoll

Field Hockey = Milford, 0 @ Franklin, 12 – Final
– Franklin jumped out with four goals in the first quarter and never looked back in a dominant win over Milford. Ella Marzullo and Caydence Canavan each found the back of the net multiple times, while Amelia Manning scored her first varsity goal and added two more to complete a hat trick. Penelope Brady chipped in with a goal and an assist, Cade Taccini set up two goals, and Addi Weiss had a goal and helper. Devon Barry made two saves to secure the shutout in net.

Volleyball = Milford, 0 @ Franklin, 3 – Final
– Behind a strong all-around effort from Makayla Kuykendall, Franklin swept Milford in three sets (25-18, 25-4, 25-11) at home. Kuykendall tallied 10 kills and 11 digs to pace the Panthers, while Emerson Delleo added six kills and 14 digs. Olivia Alberti chipped in five kills and two aces, Gianna Laurello recorded five kills and two blocks, Emerson Stewart served six aces, and Emma Cunningham held down the defense with 15 digs and two aces.

The unprecedented participation reflects teens' strong desire to stay active and prioritize their wellbeing during a critical time when school is out, and regular fitness programs like gym class and after-school sports are on pause. Planet Fitness is proud to provide the opportunity for millions of teens across the country to exercise in a safe and welcoming fitness environment during the summer months, further supporting their commitment to mental and physical health.

"We're incredibly proud to see such strong participation from teens across Massachusetts this summer," said Bruce Edwards, CEO of Core Development and Management, a local Planet Fitness franchise group. "The High School Summer Pass program provides a free, safe space for teens to stay active, build healthy habits, and grow their confidence. It's inspiring to see the difference we're making in our communities."

As a result of this year's program alone, Planet Fitness has invested more than $168M  in waived membership dues to promote youth health and wellness and improve the physical and mental health of millions of teens.

A survey conducted by Planet Fitness of more than 6,500 participating teens and 4,400 guardians revealed significant positive outcomes from the 2025 program, demonstrating measurable impact across dimensions of teen development:

  • Building Lifelong Habits: An impressive 93 percent of teen participants report that the program has actively helped them create sustainable health and fitness routines that extend beyond the summer months.

  • Confidence is Climbing: 78 percent of participants report feeling more confident since joining the program, highlighting how a little movement goes a long way.

  • Energy Boost: 80 percent of teens have seen an increase in their energy levels.

  • Inspiring Family Fitness: 76 percent of parents report that their teens working out this summer has inspired others in their family to get more physically active.

FHS girls soccer ties with Natick on Wednesday

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Fall sports competition for Franklin High School on Wednesday, Sep 24, 2025

Girls Soccer = Franklin, 3 @ Natick, 3 – Final
– Franklin twice held leads in the second half but settled for a point in a thrilling, back-and-forth game against fellow D1 contender Natick. The Red Hawks grabbed the first lead of the match, but Franklin equalized when Lily Strong finished off a pass from Morgan Lovell. The Panthers grabbed their first lead when Lovell headed a corner off the crossbar. Gwen Holland reacted first to the loose ball and finished for a 2-1 lead. Natick leveled the match but the Franklin hit a textbook counterattack to regain the advantage. After clearing a dangerous Natick free kick on the edge of the box, Lovell sprung Strong down the right channel and the sophomore coolly lifted her shot over the onrushing keeper to make it 3-2. Natick answered back with nine minutes remaining. Franklin thought it won the match with three minutes to play, but Strong’s goal was called back for a tight offsides call and the end-to-end match ended in a draw.

The Franklin Food Pantry’s FY25 Infographic
highlights another year of impact for the community

"We’re pleased to share The Pantry’s FY25 Infographic which highlights another year of impact.

This year, we saw a 10% increase in the number of households served, a clear sign of the growing need right here in our community. But it's also a powerful testament to our community's ability to come together and meet that need.

Measuring our impact is important. It helps us pinpoint where help is needed most and allows us to plan for the future.

As the need for food assistance continues to rise, we're so grateful to be part of such a supportive and collaborative community."
