FHS girls hockey team posts win 5-2 vs. Mansfield/OA on Thursday

Girls Hockey = Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 @ Franklin, 5 – Final 

– Freshman Julia Flynn had another stellar showing on the offensive end and Franklin secured a win over Mansfield/Oliver Ames in the first meeting of the season. Flynn scored four goals to pace the Panthers while Molly Hurley added another goal in the win. Ava Villella recorded three assists in the win while Shaw Downing had a pair of helpers. Kylie O’Keefe and Cammy Shanteler each scored once for the Warriors.

NEW Recreation Program Registration Website

NEW Program Registration Website

On Tuesday, February 7, 2022, Franklin Recreation will be launching a new online registration site.  This new site will be live for viewing purposes only from 1/25/22-2/7/22.  You will be able to log on to the new site and create family accounts for children in your household, but we will not begin taking Spring registration until Monday, February 7th at 8:30 AM.  

We will continue to take registration for winter programs on our old website through 2/7/22, 8:29 AM. Your old account will NOT transfer to the new website, so you will need to create a new account on the new system.

Dear Franklin Community,

The weather is expected to bring icy conditions and flash freezing in the morning, with sleet and snow to fall later in the day. As a result of this forecast, the Franklin Public Schools will be CLOSED with a snow day on Friday, February 4.

For the safety of all staff, district and school offices will also be closed. Those who are able to work from home should do so as you are able.

Franklin Music Department "Concert Hour" recital - Feb 8, Feb 10

The Franklin Public Schools Music Department will be presenting two nights of chamber music. "Concert Hour" is a showcase of solos and small musical ensembles from the middle schools and high school. 

These recitals will take place on Tuesday, February 8th and Thursday February 10th in the Franklin High School auditorium. 

Our middle school students will begin performing at 6PM and our High School students will begin at approximately 7PM.

Come hear our talented student musicians from grades 6-12 perform solo and small ensemble repertoire.  The recital is free and open to the public.

• Winter St demolition approvals in process, other abandoned housing being addressed in coordinated manner with attorney general
• problem with ordering at home test kits, not as easy as it was lead to be, no date yet for availability
• multiple residents commented against a mask policy in light of the request at the prior meeting for the Board to consider one.

FHS girls basketball team tops Bishop Fenwick 71-48 on Wednesday

Via HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the FHS winter sports action on Wednesday:

Girls Basketball = Franklin, 71 vs. Bishop Fenwick, 48 – Final 

– Two players scored more than 20 points and the Panthers scored at least 17 points in every quarter to earn an impressive non-league win. Katie Peterson led the way for Franklin, scoring 16 of her team-high 22 in the second half. Stefany Padula added 20 points and Olivia Quinn had 12 in the win. Franklin led 18-10 after one and had a 10-point edge at halftime. After pushing the lead to 15 through three quarters, Peterson (eight), Padula (six), and Quinn (four) combined for 18 points in the fourth to put the game away and seal the win.

Dear Customer,   As New England is now well and truly into the winter months, with regular overnight temperatures staying well below freezing, the Water Department wanted to send out a reminder to stay vigilant for frozen pipes in your homes.  If you have concerns or a history of frozen pipes remember to leave a COLD faucet running at a trickle through the nights where temperatures fall well below 32 degrees, this continuous water movement will help to prevent your pipes from freezing.
